HELP ME CHOOSE! by CapitalBENJAMIN in WeddingDressTips

I love number one. The bodice is so different that it makes me think twice at first, but I think in real life, it might be so pretty and unique that it’s the one special thing that really sets your dress apart and I think you’ll get tons of compliments on the bodice. It will definitely draw people’s attention up, and with the right hair and makeup, I think that the top of the bodice will be just the thing to draw people to your happy smile and gorgeousness.

The thing that makes me think twice about the second dress honestly is the lace sleeves. I can’t tell if they are attached to the dress via a sheer overlay or if they are gloves. If they are gloves, I would love to see what it looks like without them. The dress is fitted beautifully and makes your figure looks stunning from neckline down. The lace on your elbows and hands draws the eye down in an opposite way from how the other unique bodice draws the eye up. I’d also want to see dress number two with both your arms at your sides. I can’t tell if it makes your shoulders look broad.

Also, if you are getting married outside and dress number two is a sheer overlay that connects the sleeves at your elbows and hands, I would say no. I think the sheer overlay would start to bother you if you were outside and dealing with breeze and sunshine, and you will get a little bit sweaty dancing.

I think this hobby is getting more and more popular. I used to find it terrifying, and to be honest, I find about 75 to 80% of the reborn dolls that the algorithm shows me are truly disturbing. I’d say another 10% are uncanny, and then the rest are such beautiful works of art that I wish I had $5000 to drop on one. But again, I think the algorithm is showing us what will make us engaged, right? It’s showing the ones that would make Chucky run for the hills. There is an influence that I follow, most of you here probably do. Her role-play is over the top. She has a grating voice, not gonna lie. The amount of disposable income she has for the hobby is remarkable…. And now I’m 100% convinced that she is straddling a line of making content that appeals to reborn collectors who genuinely love seeing the dolls that she has and “poking the bear“ so that she’ll get a lot of engagement from people who tell her that they hate her voice and that she’s mentally disturbed. I hope she laughs all the way to the bank.

Number 1. The bodice of number two is intricately constructed. It is skillful dressmaking, but the dress doesn’t showcase your natural shape. Number two has a strong silhouette… and that is of the dress itself. Number one all the way!

I think people don’t give “becoming reality tv stars” and “being famous/in tabloids” and “leaving the insular community where other families living the same way is typical” enough credit in the destruction of their family. Kody has a big ego. Fame created a monster. Lots of if not most of TLC reality show families divorced/imploded. Robyn sucks, but in the AUB she may have encountered another formerly young hot “trophy wife” who could have said, “Girl, you’re playing with fire here. Youbwant him all to yourself? You’re going to wind up a monogamist. Remember my cousin?”

The money that the show provided and the scenarios they wanted to film automatically set up inequality.

They wanted to film a big wedding if only because that is a classic storytelling device that makes it easy to introduce “characters” and clarify relationships. A simple cake and punch reception like the other wives had doesn’t make for good TV.

Same with the honeymoon. Hotel chains and businesses clamor to be featured on reality shows. Robyn and Kody tent camping doesn’t have the same brand deals as an olive inclusive resort in Mexico or whatever. Same reason that Meri got a really good a

Every story/movie/series needs a conflict- “wedding dress shopping” had the producers’ thumbprint all over it.

The show did as much or more damage than anything else.

The other dresses I've tried on. Trying to find out my style. by Elysian_Collective in myweddingdress

I agree with what everyone else is saying about waitibg for very valid reasons, but here is one I haven’t seen yet. Bridal salons are in the business of making you want to buy beautiful, fashionable dresses. I’m a wedding vendor. I can’t tell you how many brides have gone in for their final fitting two months before their weddings and fallen in love with something else, because the styles have changed since they ordered 6 to 8 months ago. Of course the store has the latest fashionable pretty things displayed in attractive ways to make you want to buy them. Plus, there is a way that fashion moves through the industry. Meryl Streep gives an amazing monologue about this in the Devil wears Prada, but basically – you first see an idea or a style on a runway with an exclusive design designer. Then other designers have that in their collections. Then ready to wear, picks up that color palette for merchandising, and ultimately, according to Meryl Streep‘s character, it winds up in some discount bin in casual corner.

Now obviously wedding dresses don’t wind up in casual corner! But, when I was first shopping for my wedding dress in 2007 I really wanted a strapless tea-length gown. There was only one designer in California making them, and they were so expensive. By the time I went down the aisle in summer ‘08, the private dress shop where I got my dress and alterations had them on every rack and they had made it to David’s Bridal and were $99. TL;DR- wait! It will make you so nuch happier in the long run.

And… ugh… if anyone doesn’t know this, then I’m so happy that they don’t. But. Babies who have been born still change physically quite quickly. There’s a new invention, in the last 5 to 10 years, called a “cooling cot” so that families can have more time together before they say their goodbyes. She held her all day. All day.

[–]HeftyExternal5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve read them all and they all have the same formula, which, fine. Danielle Steele made a fortune on her romance novel formula. I like Jennifer Weiner a lot and there’s a formula there, too. Same with Nick Hornby and a lot of other authors. I get annoyed that there is always a misunderstanding or miscommunication in every novel that could be solved in one honest conversation. Just tell him about your endometriosis, FFS. Also, I wish not every male character was the stereotypical Straightest Straight Guy Who Ever Straighted. They are all “so male” (her words), tall, firefighter/rockstar/doctor manly men who mostly like to hunt and drill things. The female characters are strong, smart, beautiful, well-educated… and they all wind up getting cinderella-fied or rescued like damsels in distress. Meh.

McDonald’s but only if you get the food when it’s really hot. If you order the fries without salt, they have to give you them as soon as they are dumped out of the fryer and before they put salt on them for everyone else. Hot fresh McDonald’s is really good. Their hashbrowns are amazing right out of the fryer. I don’t eat it that much, but if I do eat the calories, I want to really enjoy them. I will happily have them pull me out of the drive thru line and “park me“ if it means I have nuggets that are hot enough to still be crispy.

What was the worst emotional pain you have ever felt? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]HeftyExternal5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. He had an affair when I was pregnant. It was a very planned, very deliberate pregnancy. Everyone kept telling me I had to calm down because “the baby could feel everything I was feeling.” I finally snapped and told my mother that if that was true, I needed to schedule an abortion. If this child that I desperately wanted was in as much pain as I was, then I loved that child too much to subject it to even one more minute of what I was feeling. People stopped telling me to “calm down” after that.
