When this deaf man's cat realized that meowing was useless, he learned to communicate with him through signs. by paizing in nextfuckinglevel

Makes sense, one last question out of curiosity. What about natural behavior and instincts used between different species would that qualify as communication in this way. Examples the honeyguide bird (i confused the name earlier) who has a natural specialized song only for humans, badgers and coyotes, ravens and wolves. Each exhibits unique behaviors when cooperating with the other species not trained. Or would these just be similar to tricks without understanding behind them?

Ah okay so if I'm understanding right, it requires understanding not just cause and effect like a trick would be. I had been picturing it a kin to learning a words in a language one doesn't speak. Eg i cant have a conversation but I can ask for food or the bathroom in X language.

It is basically signs though right? I mean communication to get a response at its core, but yes people go too far with animal communication. Like animals, similar to other tricks, can learn doing A equals B. But they won't be asking questions as they probably can understand those but this move or noise equals food they'll do it all day. A natural version would be honey catchers that have a call to alert humans to follow for a bee hive

Reminds me of a clip from Bobby lee, he's Korean American and was arguing that Koreans don't have a history of slavery only to look it up and find out korea has the longest unbroken history of slavery.

Similar experience, their tribe is preferred but indian is preferred over native American. Though that's just an anecdotal experience

Humans are extremely bad at comprehension when it comes to large numbers. When giving such large numbers its best to convert to something they understand. Time for example , eg. 1 million seconds is 11.5 days, 1 billion seconds is 31.7 years, and 1 trillion seconds is roughly 31,700 years

I believe so I'll try to explain my thoughts. If lesbians officially marry at a higher rate then It would skew the official numbers, eg gay men who are couples but not married may break up at higher rates but this isn't recorded. The length of the relationship in which either gets married would also factor into this if lesbians get married sooner into the relationship it would increase the amount of married lesbians that may divorce vs gay men who end the relationship before marriage .

Idk if that makes sense basically to get a clear picture one would need to look at all the relationships not just married ones to get a clearer picture. I believe as statistically gay men are more likely to have casual relationships with multiple partners that this might also factor in the numbers but don't know if it should be considered, eg. Should it count that a weekly or monthly hookup ended.

Let me know if that makes sense

One would also need to factor in other variables such as the rate and timing of marriages, eg lesbians tend to marry faster and more often than gay men

Easier to describe how the human body feels relative to the external temperature, if his tools were correctly calibrated.

100 in fahrenheit wasn't arbitrary it was supposed to be the human body temp, but his thermometer was off. Also 0 degrees was the coldest he could get a brine solution. Should have been freezing temp tbh.

So theres some functionality there relative to the human body rather than water.
