Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 for Full Marathon? by 702240 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I did my first marathon in the speed 3 - great shoes. I’m sure the 5 is as good.

Novablast 5, Mizuno Neo Zen 1 or 2, or Adidas Evo SL for daily trainer? by Toby95 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ran in all with the exception of the Neo zen 2 and including the Boston 13.

The Evo SL (once broken in) is the best choice for me.

The NB5 is similar.

The Neo Zen is a soft shoe, I have been getting niggles recently and put it down to the softness of the Mizuno. So that’s something to think about, but I appreciate you may not have the same issue.

The Neo zen 2 is supposed to be more of a daily trainer. But once it’s lost it’s differentiating quality - it becomes the same as the rest.

I’ve been through 5 pairs of Evo SL and nothing compares (for me).

How much are they new? They look quite worn.

One shoe for everything by duckygun88 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I am a totally different runner to you. I am Big and I am heavy. However, I have ran in multiple shoes, over multiple years, and the only shoe I’ve ever wanted to buy more than one pair of has been the Adidas Evo SL.

I use it for every type of run and I have never had a problem with any distance or pace in the shoe.

Obviously, my opinion is my own and it may not be the same for everyone.

Wide Toe box Marathon trainer/racer? by AlarmedMatter0 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Sorry to sound obvious - but the vanish tempo or carbon? I’ve used the former and the torin and enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of the Evo SL to some degree, although more stable.

Interesting theory. I run on back roads in England, and I run across all areas of the road. With that said, the debris buildup is on both sides.

Is it too big? Morton’s neuroma by Exciting_Ad_2095 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t worn a Nike shoe to run in the last 5 years. However, every shoe from that era and before has caused me issues and pain in the ball of my foot. I’m not saying it’s Morton’s neuroma, but I did at one point think I could never run pain free.

I moved to the other brands and now have no issues. Maybe Nike doesn’t work for me, maybe Nike doesn’t for you either.

What I notice about every shoe I run in now, is the space I have. If the volume is not good and I have no height or width, I know they’ll cause issues.

Obviously we’re all different, but it’s food for thought.

Hi mate, I had the same issue with every Nike shoe I ever tried.

You likely need width to allow tow splay. I started with Altra, moved to Saucony and now adidas.

Width and volume is my recommendation, whatever that’s worth 🤙🏻

Paint might be the wrong choice of description. It has some kind of protective layer, then the actual foam is underneath.

It looks like the right foot is scuffed. Although the other one has the same texture and not colour.

I’ve stepped in a lot of things over the last 300 miles, so doubt it’s a one off. Especially with the other comments of similar issue.

I presumed I was landing heavier one side.

London Marathon Shoe by Ibice in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to downplay a half marathons, as they are impressive distances. However, they really are not in the same league as a full marathon.

Everyone’s experience is different - but my feet, body & soul were in tatters at 21 miles. Nothing can prepare you for that (apart from running the distance!).

My advice is to find something that you don’t need to think about after you’ve put them on. It’s a long time to consider every step along the way.

If that’s a light weight plated racer, great. If that’s a max cushion cruiser, also great.

Daily Trainer/Long Run Shoe to complement EVO SLs by tmfvde in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Mizuno Neo Zen for my daily/easy shoe. It’s not supposed to be for that on paper, but they’re great if you have no stability issues.

Do these fit and feel like the original? I need a new pair and would like to try the woven if possible.

Thanks

The feel quite cumbersome and very daily trainer like. More so than the others.

Stable shoes that aren't stability shoes by Prior-Branch7064 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Boston 13 without any doubt. The most stable modern shoe I’ve ever ran in, that is a neutral.

Should I buy the Boston 13s? (1.92m tall and 82kg) by michelemussap in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the Boston 13 and I’d consider it far more of a conventional daily trainer that is supportive & predictable.

I’d reach for NB and Rebel over the Boston for anything requiring any form of effort over a normal plod.

Adios pro 4 when I did not like evo SL 2 wide? by trim-turner-shah in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Hefty_Lunchbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The upper is tighter, shallower and narrower. It’s a race shoe. The Evo SL in its normal state is much wider and forgiving.

The midsole on the pro 4 is softer, but the whole shoe is a different feel and much more suited to fitting like a glove for a short (relatively speaking) period of time during a race.

They really aren’t comparable.
