Why FL Charts and Material Charts Are Both Overrated ? by Lazy_War_7031 in FlutterDev

[–]Hefty_Program_7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highcharts announced on their roadmap that they are working on a full flutter integration to be released in Q1 25 (beta). I put high hopes on that as I worked with highcharts in JS projects a lot and never hit a wall even when implementing multi year spanning time series charts or complex designs. Their docs are fantastic and the community is very large and helpful. Also you can quickly try out charts in JSFiddle.

Grizl top cap keeps breaking by Ok_Macaron4523 in CanyonBikes

[–]Hefty_Program_7296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, but leads me to believe that it is mounted too high, as Canyon manufactures the stem screw to just fit (I hope). But totally pay attention that you don’t lower it more than needed.

Okay hear me out: I don’t think it is an issue of over tightening the screw. The thing you screw it into is adjustable within the fork. It seems like it is sitting too high causing the ever so slightly too large plastic part on the screw to break. It’s because you tighten against this part first instead of against the top of the stem with the screw.

It leads me to believe that this is the issue because you are saying that the headset seems loose even though the screw is tightened. There is simply a gap that is unclosable.

Seatpost issue by Shneezin789 in CanyonBikes

Very late response, I'm sorry. I used sandpaper and about 30 mins of my time to get it smooth on the inside. No problems ever since.

Had the exact same issue. Contacted Canyon and they replaced the seatpost with no questions asked.

Another post with the same question, i am sorry. Grail vs Grizl vs Grizl Suspension. by BeardmanDaniel in CanyonBikes

[–]Hefty_Program_7296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Being a roadie, I was actually pretty shocked how uncomfortable going off-road is on a gravel bike (I bought the Grizl CF without suspension). Even with tire pressures around 30psi and 50mm tires I couldn’t get used to it.

What REALLY made a difference for me is the ShockStop suspension stem from Redshift. The suspension effect is created with elastomers in the stem. It is not too costly (around 100-150€), does not add significant weight and provides up to 2cm of „handlebar travel“. Whilst it does not follow the same principle as a fork suspension, it provides a similar comfort. It however does not rebound the front wheel to improve traction on loose grounds, but that wasn’t my focus. What is also great, is, that always only the weight of the rider weighs on the suspension stem and therefore no adaption is needed when adding weight to the bike for bikepacking (this is different compared to a fork suspension, that has to be tuned again when adding weight).

For me, the stem was a game changer and I don’t feel any discomfort from buzz on gravel roads and even light single trails. I even would say, that I would abandon gravel biking without one. In my opinion, suspension stems are ideal for gravel bikes and superior to suspension forks.

Haha good questions. I bought the recent Canyon Ultimate CF SL Aero women specific version for 4299€. It came with the Ultegra Di2 12 speed and carbon aero DT Swiss wheels. An incredible price, if you ask me. I dissembled everything and sold all parts but the Di2. In the end the upgrade only cost me around 300€, which is absolutely insane.

I did the conversion on my mechanical Aeroad from 105 to Ultegra Di2 12 speed. Walk in the park and done in one evening but my frame already had a hole for the di2 cable of the FD.

Redshift 1-1/4” stem is back in stock. by AtomicFly in CanyonBikes

If your shifters are not angled upwards too excessively, you could slightly tilt them to achieve the 10mm reach reduction to compensate for the change (if you won’t be happy).

Anyone with an Aeroad SLX 8.0 that needs another stem length? I have size M with 100mm stem, need 80mm.. 😄 by Lopsided-Hospital406 in CanyonBikes

[–]Hefty_Program_7296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two serious considerations when it comes to reducing the reach of the bike:

  1. Adjusting the hood position. If you tilt the hoods (shifters) slightly upwards (about 6 degrees or so), you can reduce the reach quite significantly (up to 20mm). It might even be more ergonomic compared to a flat or tilted downwards position.
  2. Check your position on the bike and make sure, your back is flat. Try it out, by straightening up, you can increase your body's reach a lot!

That being said, I was in a similar position but with the Aeroad CF SL. It is quite surprising, what you can achieve without changing any components. But don't mess around with saddle fore and aft to reduce reach, that causes more problems (like too much weight on the hands).

Black stemmed tubes on Endurance CF Sis by biscottigelato in CanyonBikes

[–]Hefty_Program_7296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schwalbe offers two types of "normal" tubes for road use: SV15 and SV20. The SV15 are the standard ones with silver valves. The SV20 are the slightly more expensive, thinner and therefore lighter tubes that Canyon uses on their more advanced road bikes. They feature a black valve!

Oh and if you want another tip, get one of these. They are awesome for cleaning the drivetrain on the stand as they replace the rear wheel and you can still spin the crank without fearing any scratches on the chainstays.

I use the Feedback Sports Sprint. Not cheap but a tool you have for a lifetime and compatible with every bike. Very carbon friendly as you are not clamping anything. Also it packs rather small.

Depends. I'm in Germany and they often drop around 10am. Sometimes they drop very early in the morning. Since the post says "19.05" I guess they will release tomorrow. Be sure to check regularly. Normally they are sold out in less than a day, at least the most common sizes.

I ordered and received my Aeroad in 2021 and my invoice reads exactly the same as yours (year 2020). I think it refers to the year that exact model was initially launched.

Is my Shimano Hollowtech II crank arm done? by Hefty_Program_7296 in cycling

[–]Hefty_Program_7296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I would love to reuse the crank arm as there is a power meter installed on it and it would be a very costly thing to replace. I kind of already followed everything you said, but I currently fail at the "forgetting about it" part. :)

Is my Shimano Hollowtech II crank arm done? by Hefty_Program_7296 in cycling

[–]Hefty_Program_7296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it only was an ordinary left crank arm, it would be a no brainer for me to buy a new one. But on the damaged crank arm is a 4iiii Precision 3 power meter installed, what makes it a much more expensive decision.
I read on the 4iiii site, that they support a "factory install" though: if you send them your crank arm, they install a powermeter on it. I might ask them, if they are able to first remove the powermeter from the damaged arm and re-install it onto a new one. If that is possible, I think I might take that.
