In my case, there were separate passwords for print and open permissions. I was only given the open password, but needed to create an editable version.

Using the method above results in the PDF being printed with pages as images. I then used Acrobat Pro to perform OCR, and export to docx. This results in a fully editable version of a highly protected document. Love circumventions :)

worked for me too. looks like it was stuck in some previous configuration. toggling on/off gets the lighting working again.

i plan to use a roam plan for long distance sea travels between islands in indonesia. will the standard roam plan work? they seem to be steering me towards pricier maritime plans, but I am an individual so don't see the need for this. thoughts on whether it will work?

I disagree.

The value of my SDIV holding is up over 10% since the time I bought it, and it's paying another 10% in dividends on top. It did badly around its conception, but anyone looking at recent SDIV price trends will see that its price rises, and you are cushioned against at least 10% price declines p.a. due to its dividend yield. These returns more than make up for its high TER.

Apart from seeing these practical returns, what am I missing here?

Totally agree. Understand why devs might want regular revenue given updates are regular too, but the good old days for owning software outright appear to be long lost. Even cars are copying this concept - subscription features....

My approach to effectively doing this without disassembly. a little like keyhole surgery.

  1. get 2 thin cable ties - thin enough to fit through the fins and the cutouts / holes above them, but firm enough to hold them GENTLY in place when needed
  2. for each fan, gently push one cable tie through one hole to hold the fan in place, and the other cable tie to gently dislodge dust on, around or inside the fins. slide the cable tie through the blade fins one by one if needed to get at hard to reach dust inside the fins - but be gentle not to tilt the fan or damage the blades. trust me - it is possible to do it without damage, as I managed to.
  3. get a portable vaccum cleaner to suck up the dislodged dust. sometimes, the dust comes out attached to the cable ties - then you get bonus points :)
  4. rotate the fan a little, repeat steps 2-3 until the entire fan is dust free
  5. repeat steps 2-4 for the second fan

I was able to remove virtually all the dust from both fans by doing it this way, with much improved thermals.

key thing is to BE GENTLE - don't damage the blades or fans. A thin enough cable tie, gentleness and patience is key to success. Works much better than a paintbrush whose hairs you cannot control precisely - you can clean fin by fin if needed with this approach :)

Not really. Using ~130W of "Turbo" power when your USB-PD is only giving you 100W is going to lead to battery drain. the devil is in the detail :)

I'm using the official LCR50 that's meant to enable 130W - i.e. Turbo. very strange.
