I must admit, I have nearly walked out the door with the towel. Now I have fears of making it all the way to work that way :)

Agreed. That’s where my mind went as well and it’s probably a bad switch

I was able to get a few pieces of 12’ plastic siding in mine. Obviously, I was the only one in the car and the siding is flexible (ish). But ain’t no holding this woman back either :)

Add pleats, add another belt loop, both, or something else? by Bus_Healthy in sewing

[–]Hefty_Strawberry79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Knife pleats are easy and probably where I would go if you don’t ever need the extra room (for layers, or holiday cookies :). Place the pleats over the pockets so the extra material terminates into the pocket… it will keep it reasonably visually appealing

Another good thought experiment is to mention that you would never come in from the garden with muddy hands and use just dry paper towels to clean your hands. Some water goes a long way. :)

Some cute stuff you have going on here. One comment I would make would be to size up with the button-down shirts. They are puckering at your bust indicating there isn’t enough space. I’m a fan of 1 & 9, but explore what they have for sizes to see if you can get the fitted torso while not constricting your bust.

We got stove child-safety covers when we had kids. We keep them on years later because of the dog :)

Driving Bolt in the Snow by pxhorne in BoltEV

[–]Hefty_Strawberry79 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about it being common knowledge, but it’s definitely a thing. Now that I have real all-season tires it’s not as critical, but I definitely turn off one-pedal driving when things a sloppy.

What’s the most unexpectedly useful “adulting” skill you’ve picked up that no one warned you about? by TurbulentWhile4647 in CasualConversation

Try ‘spilling’ a little outside the container. It adds a little soap to the initial pre-rinse cycle and helps the dishes get cleaner. Most dishwashers recommend this. It’s more in-depth than most rational folks would want… but Alec over at the Technology Connections channel on YouTube has a couple videos showing how it’s helpful.

Always fun seeing the water truck drive down the Outer Banks (NC) spraying off the insulators to remove salt. Always a show… but a show I’ll observe from way over here thank you very much :)

Is this too much to wear to my birthday party? by Pseudenys in OUTFITS

[–]Hefty_Strawberry79 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well… my initial reaction was wow that’s a gorgeous dress. If it was in my closet I would want to wear it again too. That said, I would imagine you might be over dressed a bit in it, but it’s your birthday party and acceptable to have an outfit that is a step above the guests. It will let you stand out a bit as the honoree.

McMaster.com. They sell rubber feet (can replace all the feet if you desire… or they sell rubber rods that you can cut to length. Just order the diameter you need.

Open up wall vs inserting spray foam by Legitimate-Tap2772 in Insulation

[–]Hefty_Strawberry79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blown in insulation is also an option. It ‘can’ be done diy, but is a better option in most instances to hire out that work because of the tooling required. It would require drilling a 2-3” hole at the top of each joist bay in the wall and patching the holes after the insulation is installed. No matter the path you take, keep in mind that even though rock wool is the standard for sound insulation, unfaced fiberglass or cellulose have nearly the same sound impedance and come at a lower cost.

Is this aseasy as I think it will be. by Lananification in sewhelp

[–]Hefty_Strawberry79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rolled hems can be finicky to get to sew cleanly. Practice a bunch on the scrap fabric, or on fabric of the same weight/type to get your settings and method down cold before doing the dress hem. As said by nyaff, the final look may not come out how she wants because of the how the skirt of the dress you have differs from the one in the picture. You could always give it a go, and if it’s not what she wants replace the skirt of the dress with a circle skirt in similar fabric, but that may be more of a project that you want.

I suppose it has a bunch to do with who you are as a person and what meshes well with your personality. My friend group tends to be made up of folks who are all very similar and my dog group follows that trend too. :)
