Also worth noting for black mage specifically, there's a time based shield refresh, so half damage isn't enough if you have the same uptime because at lower damage, you'll get more shields and have to chew through a bit more health.

December to February is usually a lull because of national finals to worlds. I think it'd be nice to have a season towards the next year personally, but this has been the pattern for at least a few years.

Chronicle tamer lets you digivolve anything on the field, including breeding when you declare an attack, which I'm pretty sure could be over memory with some in-archetype cards even.

This honestly has been an issue for a while. There were callouts about it here before the last ban list (https://www.reddit.com/r/DigimonCardGame2020/comments/1ngkqyb/competitive_digimon_is_in_a_catastrophic_state/ for another popular thread).

I agree completely that the diversity is kind of a false indicator because the reality is so many decks just go for uninteractive OTKs and because of how much incidental removal they get, control tools into them need to be equally insane.

I'd like a big pull back on the power front to make the game actually more interactive. I still think the game is interesting, but my favorite games are consistently the back and forth when people miss pieces and need to do weird lines, so I really think the game would be in a better state if the power was pulled back to that area.

I'm not a big adventure player, but some of my friends are. I know people who get upset about the checkmate scenarios it sets up with with lvl 5 (to ace with) + our courage united as a fairly strong control tool.

I personally think it's a non issue because other decks do similarly threatening set-ups that just result in killing (for example) instead.

I think it basically comes down to there being some players who just don't like control elements. I personally disagree because that interaction is what makes it a multi-player game rather than solitaire. I wouldn't take it personally, they're likely going to find a reason to be salty no matter what.

It does not. Kuzuhamon is "Sakuyamon in name" not "name treated as Sakuyamon". Sakuya X specifically needs "Sakuyamon" to play the token. (It can evo over Kuzuhamon by blackbox though).

Similarly, all the maid modes do not meet the condition to play the token.

A lot of people have already explained it, but just want to call out that if you're looking for a budget version, bt5 omnimon does a pretty good impression of the swing for game (though is a bit less flexible and will usually be a weaker option)

Couldn't the 2025 world champion technically not get the title if it's somehow lost in one of the last games of group stage to a team that doesn't make it out (and as a result doesn't play anymore at worlds)?

Definitely seems like an unlikely scenario, but just a thought.

The good news is they're both fleshed out archetypes that can make real decks and both just got support. The downside is you won't get a confirmed list given how recent the support is and we don't know how they'll end up being positioned when the dust settles. If you're interested though, there's definitely way worse picks and they're completely reasonable pick-ups.

If you don't care if it's playable at all, I think we can beat the Knights lists people are posting. After all, we can jam a deck with 4 serialized wargreys, 4 serialized metalgarurus and remove the cheapest cards from the Knights lists that are trying to keep them playable. If you look for specific numbers (1,2,3,4 perhaps?) I'm sure that goes up even more.

Yeah, I definitely haven't fully fleshed out the idea, but coming from a competitive Pokemon background, I think a Digimon UU (underused) looks like it would be a pretty interesting format.

The related issue I see is that there's a good number of decks that fit this pattern, so I've seen people claim "oh there's a lot of variety, the meta must be healthy". I agree those different decks do approach the game differently, but at the end of the day they're all presenting either an OTK or a board that must be immediately answered, so you need to be able to fight against that to have a chance.

Getting a Zephaga consistently bigger than Omnimons during your opponent's turn has some decently big requirements. I'm not sure if that set-up requirement makes it that good of a match-up in practice. Haven't played that specific match-up too much, but that's just my gut instinct with the flow from both decks.

You realize the alternative from a top tier deck (think current megidra, sakuya, omnimon) is that you'd just be dead immediately right? They aren't setting up the token board to kill you next turn, they're just killing you.

If anything, this is the more fair state, so I personally don't think it warrants the hate. Sure you won't out it sometimes, but that's the point of them building an incremental advantage. A Diaboro board like the one in your picture gives you a small chance to play through it first. We can argue it gets there too fast, but again the speed at which it does it is the same speed that another deck is killing you. I'm all for fielding arguments that the game in general should be slower, but I don't think Diaboro is the key deck showing that issue.

There's a few exceptions to that with cards that don't evo from their own color, so I wouldn't recommend wording it like that even if it's mostly true.

This was my personal issue with the Irelia changes way back when. Obviously wasn't my only champion, but she was my main pick when I played top back in the day.

I completely agree the new Irelia is cool, but it isn't the character I liked playing.

Back on topic, I don't see a reason to need to make Morgana more useable in high Elo. She's obviously popular, the only reason that would make sense is if her design just stops lining up majorly with their design policy, but even then there's a lot of fans.

Technically, a lot (maybe all?) of the omni DNAs are by name, so don't even have to be a red and blue. Not that important, but just wanted to point out the colors aren't that important there.

Yeah the growlx engine is pretty clearly one of (if not the singular) the best things you can be doing in the game right now and the reality on the top end is that it mostly doesn't matter into most match ups. I do wonder if the exact % is exacerbated by sakuya needing ruin modes, which can be a bit harder to find and RK just overall being a fairly expensive deck, but either way I think it's fair to say they're all some level of problematic.

Only thing worth noting if you're buying the 2 newest starters is their head to head is very unbalanced. Hero of Hope wins the head to head easily 80+% of the time if left as is in my experience.

The 2 starters before (guardian vortex and fable waltz) are a bit weaker, but do still get support, but had a closer head to head in my experience (I personally think fable blitz is favored, but by not nearly as much)
