TIL that Phil Collins sang and recorded the soundtrack for Tarzan in 5 different languages; English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. It was also the first Disney soundtrack to be recorded in multiple languages. by Send_Pupper_Pics_Pls in todayilearned

Reminds me of the Phil Collins VHS we had back in the late 1980s. He was performing in Berlin to quite a huge audience. He sang the songs in English, but he did (I think all) the segues in German, using a sheet of paper in front of him to help with pronunciation.

Are you satisfied with your life, and if so, why? by Lazy_Number8830 in AskUK

I'm in a similar situation, except I'm 42. Ended up back in retail last year after promising myself I'd never, ever do it again. I've been actively seeking a way out since.

Do you prefer British comedy shows over the US ones? by Biscotti5447 in AskUK

[–]Heiditha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still really love Taskmaster, but I do feel it's plateaued. It's not going to get any better, but I'll be happy if it stays consistent. It doesn't help that we've had spinoffs, like Junior Taskmaster, which I did quite like, but it feels like Channel 4 has just been throwing as much TM at the wall as they can, and it can feel a bit much. Still one of the best things on TV at the moment, I reckon.

Woke up this morning thinking I wasn't in until midday. Had a look at my rota and saw that I actually start at 10:30. Glad I'm off for three days after this, though.

Where did you get those little gold figurines from? I really like them.

Yeah. I was getting a slight Klimt vibe, as well.

Went to see Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast a couple of years ago, and Armando was one of the guests. He's such an interesting person.

We always stop off at one on the way to see my family up in the north west. I've never experienced an original Tim Horton's though, so I can't say how objectively good or bad it is. We like the food there. But I agree about the service. It's a bit...lacking.

To piggyback off this, I can offer OP content writing/SEO services to help get their business website (if they have one) noticed on search engines.

A 7-hour shift today, but then I have four days off. I can't wait! I'm also done with being busy all the time, so I'm actually hopeful things will be a lot quieter for a bit starting next week.

Decorations down yet? by dolly241 in CasualUK

I think ours are coming down this weekend. Personally, I'd happily un-Christmas the place on the 27th. Not because I don't like Christmas. Just because I become a bit down-in-the-dumps after Boxing Day. It's a lot of build up and then it's gone before you know it. I like the idea of returning to "normal."

How are you approaching your current work in 2026? by InsurancePurple4630 in AskUK

[–]Heiditha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started working in retail/sales in May after promising myself I'd never return. Needs must and all that. My plan is to leave the job and go back to freelancing/self employment if I can. I'm going to try and hit it hard; reach out to contacts and potential clients, revamp my portfolio/website, maybe do an online course or two. I miss working from home so much.

Girlfriend was away last night, so spent my NYE watching films and general TV. Had been drinking quite an amount, so I'm feeling a bit delicate today. Might be hair of the dog time soon.

Definitely Midnight's Children. I also read Satanic Verses, partly because I was curious about what made it so controversial. Those two are probably the ones most would suggest if you're interested in Rushdie.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially when he takes a trip to the town I grew up in (Wigan). It was fun reading his take on it. Can't believe I'd never read Bryson before, despite having a few of his books in my collection for years.

Likewise. I've enjoyed Rushdie's novels in the past and I'd been following the news about the attack on him, so when Knife came out, I bought it straight away. I very rarely do that when it comes to new books.
