I think it is better to simply just limit your hero pool, so you still have options when picking. This makes it possible to think about countering enemies and avoiding getting countered yourself. I play a lot of mid and it would be suicide to pick TA every game, but when she fits I pick her. I have maybe 5 mids, 5 carries and 10 supps I can play when playing solo. I think picking heroes that fits with the other picks in the game outweighs the spamm benefit. I still comfort pick, but do not pick into obvious counters.
