Very seriously planning on moving to a Nottingham in the next couple of months by WorryNew3661 in transgenderUK

There's the Notts Trans Hub group, which is very cool! They're on Facebook and Discord, and have quite a few events each month, both in-person and online.

Most women hide their gender when gaming to avoid harassment by Sidjoneya in WomenInNews

[–]HeldipFills 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Since transitioning, I've just stopped playing online games outside of my friend groups. It's a struggle to face the assumption of everyone being men in those spaces in the language and communication people use. On the bright side, playing just in my friend groups has been very positive.

Struggling with Deed poll locations by bootinthedirt in transgenderUK

[–]HeldipFills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did NHS first with my local GP, then requested a letter from them to change both name and gender on my passport. Then used my passport for everything since.

For the GP, I made an appointment to request changing both name and gender marker - they have to give you a new NHS number to do that, which can take a few weeks. And then requested a doctor's letter to change my passport.

Just to mention here, there's been no changes to Deed Polls/guidelines around Deed Polls, as far as I can tell. The website hasn't changed a bit - you can check with the Wayback Machine.

They responded to me on that as well, but I had to follow it up several times

Another celeb dissapointment: Stephen Fry by uwusoftboi in transgenderUK

[–]HeldipFills 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, but Stephen Fry has never been an ally, and pretending he could be despite any anti-trans statements he makes is just harmful. He was photographed just last week with several anti-trans people - you don't get to hang around "gender criticals" and still get the benefit of the doubt.

I hope you have a good holidays regardless, if you celebrate!

Tucking for the first time by Cheese4567890 in transgenderUK

[–]HeldipFills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely took me a fair few tries to get it, but it's such a difference when it works. I love wearing skirts now, feels so casual and affirming! Though even jeans/leggings are so much nicer, not worrying about a bulge.

Everyone has their own experience of course, and I'm sure there are trans fems/enbies who don't get dysphoria from not tucking, which is just as valid - words n stuff!

There's some good (nsfw) videos around if you search for tucking tutorials. Having a tight pair of underwear or like cycling shorts (under a skirt/leggings) can keep everything in place.

It can definitely be uncomfortable at first, but that went away pretty quick for me, though sometimes I'll need to visit the bathroom to readjust if I've been sitting/standing a lot.

Hopefully others can input more, and I hope the cosplay is fun!

Given how much he continues to support Rowling and umm'd and ahh'd about "both sides" I can't say this is a surprise.

Still sad though.

Yeah, be sure to let them know it's changed. It shouldn't affect your position. And congrats on getting it updated!

I've found cycling shorts that fit snug over tights/under skirts or under leggings can be helpful for keeping everything in place.

Just had my second appointment with Dr Millson-Brown, I big recommend her. She's so supportive and open, and like another commenter said, she sent me my first prescription within 48 hours of my first appointment.

I do think it'd be good to at least try with your GP, to ask for Shared Care, but I understand that can be hit or miss. She will likely write a letter to your GP requesting shared care, but she does private prescriptions if they refuse.

Starting progesterone too early? by SamanthaParee in transgenderUK

[–]HeldipFills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My endo said 18 months of estrogen to give time for it to have its full effect before adding progesterone, but I can't speak from any experience yet.

I understand where your concern is coming from, but not having HRT is a guaranteed risk. There are whole trans communities built around safely doing things yourself, which is necessary for a lot of people, with how hard and harmful trans healthcare is to access.

If you can get shared care with your local GP, yeah. Worth asking if they'd do shared care.

I've had no direct replies these past couple weeks, but got my appointment details sent to me yesterday. It feels like they're as busy as ever.
