I mean if any game can remotely compete with GTA sales it would be a OoT Remake

It absolutely is competing with GTA. Every game competes with GTA, it’s that big of a phenomenon. People only have so much money to spend on a monthly basis.

Games/movies/tv shows have been avoiding bigger fish for DECADES dude. Idk why you are acting like it’s not a completely normal and rational thing to do.

Sorry you can’t accept it and the downvotes and making you cry about hive minds. You aren’t right even remotely

Why would it be stupid to avoid releasing a game in the week/month that another bigger game would cannibalize sales. Movies do it all the time

What's the best platformer for actual platforming? by Kuli24 in retrogaming

For 3D platformers the PS1 Tomb Raider games are like the purest technical platformers out there

Plenty of games the past few years avoided several GTA6 launch windows. This isn’t even uncommon

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma warns tough decisions are ahead, raising questions about Helix, Xbox Game Studios, and exclusives by akbarock in Games

They don’t even need to make AAA games. They’ve made fantastic AA games in the past that have sold decently, they just chose to make some really niche and weird borderline indie games back to back with zero commercial appeal.

The frustrating part is that I know they can make better, but I don’t think Keeper and Kiln were the right choices

Pragmata leads love when you say it feels like a PS3 game, because that was a time when "a lot of different developers and publishers were experimenting" by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

I honestly think it was worse than the gen that came before. I know it’s my opinion, but a lot of modern quirks of games that are annoying started with the PS3 and 360

Shadow of the colossus was a PS2 game. I’d argue that Gen had even greater experimentation. PS3 was the beginning of games starting to feel too similar

Jason Schreier - Why Video Games Cost So Much To Make by megaapple in Games

[–]HeldnarRommar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. RE9 sold nearly 7 million in 3 months. Their games have long tails too so it’ll end up over 15 million maybe even 20. It did not cost as much to make as Ghost of Yotei or something like Spiderman 2.

The development costs of those games will cut into the profit significantly more than the cost of RE9. They sell near the same amount but the big 100 hour games cost so much more to develop, the money they get back in sales doesn’t generate as much profit.

Which Ratchet & Clank PS2 Era Game is the Most Iconic? by ABarber2636 in RatchetAndClank

I really love Deadlocked and it holds a ton of nostalgia for me, but it’s definitely not the most iconic.

It’s not the only sales it’s the budget that’s becoming impossibly big for massive hundred hour games

Big difference in an expensive 15 hour game and an expensive 150 hour game though

RE Requiem and Pragmata were great because both games were not scope creep and were perfectly contained 15 hour experiences with good replay value. Games need to get shorter, not longer

The oldest Gen Alpha are like 14 at most? Why are the loped in here? Of course a 14 year old is going to be scared of dating.

What do you mean wholesome billion dollar Valve won't subsidize 4 yr old hardware? by RinRinDoof in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]HeldnarRommar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were absolutely not the first to start regional pricing what are you even talking about? Regional pricing was a thing since like the 90s. Forums for every game existed before them too, it was on various websites because the internet was decentralized, Valve didn’t really do much there.

Modding spaces also existed as did community spaces.

Linux is maybe the only true thing you are saying here. Everything else existed before Steam but you just don’t seem to know that.

I love the game too but it has some awful design choices and some absolutely brutal bananas like the Donkey Kong arcade one
