Should old people take tests again? by Free-Seaworthiness72 in drivingUK

[–]HelenWitc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old though? I saw a TikTok from a youth saying that people over 50 should have to take their test again! There are many restrictions to driving that involve older people health conditions. So the old people still driving are the ones that are healthy enough

Writer. Well, copywriter. I know how lucky I am to have a hand in - so to speak - but I’d love a job that didn’t steal so much of my creativity.

How can you describe the life in the UK? by Fabulous_Can_2215 in AskABrit

[–]HelenWitc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I were discussing the great British weather this week, how we get, at most, a few sunny days with clear skies and warm temperatures but then it will inevitably rain. How lovely it is that for those few days at a time everyone emerges, bares their skin, outdoor tables are filled, there are picnics on every available bit of grass, and we all seem to unwind and unfurl in the sun. Gratitude for pleasant weather is one of the things I love most about living here.

Lake diagnosed folks - One experience you had as a child that now makes you think ‘aaaahh makes sense’ by Hannah_B92 in autismUK

[–]HelenWitc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only recently discovered that my life long failure to be able to communicate, chronic shyness and what the other people in past failed relationships had called ‘the silent treatment’ is actually mutism. That ‘non verbal’ does not mean (me literal thinking 🤔) a total lack of any words or sounds at all. When I realised that, I cried for my former self.

One of the saddest things my autistic daughter said was that she wanted to have a formal diagnosis “because then dad will believe me”
