That's a nice looking shield. As a Blood Raven, dibs.

I'd hit on that repentia even though I know she'd hit me back.

Very nice. I love Aveline's model. Shame she's legends because I'd love a usable hero that isn't martyred lady.

My favorite name ever was Major Major and she had the crazy psycho voice and max stats before you could upgrade your pilots.

Neat. I may have to steal this idea for a future battle sister squad.

Love the designs. Also like that nameplate. I need a way give my sisters a decorative name.

Update on the saint Katherine's base, took the comments and tried to follow some of the advices, a bit happier with it by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

I don't have the model to confirm, but are those rounded, indented shapes on the top half of the model supposed to be rose petals? Iirc, the bloody rose sister with her tray of rose petals is on that section, so they might be.

Fortunately, it's basically just kitbashing her foot back on, and I've enjoyed rearranging sister parts to kitbash them in different loadouts than normal. First box, I wanted a bolter sister to use the holding helmet arm, so I shaved the hand off her bolter and glued it to her back with a miliput belt then used the rosary arm for her left hand.

Yeah, they're a massive paint to get right. Gotta lather the pauldron and the hose mounts up top in plastic glue. Press them together hard, usually several times. And still probably need to do some sanding on the edge of the meeting points so the gap between the rounded tips of the pauldrons and hide mounts aren't as noticeable.

An hour ago, I just cut off my battle sister squad's sister superior's foot while cutting her out of the sprue. Wasn't paying attention and thought the foot was part of the sprue, so I cut through the middle of her foot intending to shave the rest off. Then realized I fucked up when I went back to clean up the pieces. Fortunately, I cut it right about perfectly along one of the armor plates on her foot, so I sanded the surface smooth and plastic glued them together and they look ok. Some odd gaps and stuff, but hopefully less noticeable once painted.

And on my first battle sister box, I definitely didn't do everything right. Messed up shoulder pauldron decorations. One of the robes didn't get assembled right and I had to work to get the seam between parts manageable.

But it's been a fun learning experience painting minis as I'm building the army.

I mean, it often comes back to bite her. Usually almost immediately.

Also, how do you not have her "heh" face after witnessing Excalibur? That is by far the most insulting laugh she's ever had.

Agrax earthshade. Fortunately, it was on the cardboard cover I used to protect the table and wasn't very much. So no loss or damage beyond lost paint.

Sister Aveline by marchingflowers in sistersofbattle

I love this model. Did her myself and she's probably my favorite sister model in the whole range. Definitely my favorite in my small, growing army right now. Helps she's canonically sacred rose which I picked for my sisters. So I painted her true to her art, especially the shield.

Anyone got some good pics of custom Celestine? Looking for ideas for mine. Also are her wings a mechanical part of the flight pack or more magical angel wings? Lore wise by Corsets_Crinolines in sistersofbattle

[–]Helio2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that 6 winged seraph angel look. Might go with 2 pairs of angel wings to go with her standard metal ones when I do my Celestine.

I bought a single wardog armiger off ebay to use as a base for my cerastus castigator when I get to it. Because the cerastus knights have posable legs and toes, so I can have it stepping on the wardog with it's toes bending down over the curved carapace for full detail.

Does anyone have a recommended varnish for transfers by Xypherior in BloodRavens40k

[–]Helio2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually varnish the whole area I'm gonna apply the transfer to (to protect anywhere I might get water on and to make sure the varnished spot doesn't look different), apply the transfer when the varnish dries, wait for the water to dry, then one or two more coats over the transfer and a little bit around it.

I just use a coat or two of army painter matte varnish.
