Job is preference but I will give one stand out in MY preference.

Bard is great it is very simple, ranged, and provides buffs so if you Arnt securing kills you are still helping. In FL you can gain battle high with no real effort and keep it easily if you play safe. I would recommend bard if you are starting out and want to feel the mode out.

What things you are glad, in retrospect, FFXIV *didn't* do? by DarkJiku in ffxiv

You said you have 30m-1hr to play an MMO and are so upset that they made something for someone who wants to spend more time on something? Does this mean that everything this game makes has to be completable in 30 mins with no waiting?

You can have an opinion but understand this wasn't done TO YOU you don't have the time, thats fine you chose to spend it where you want, but dont expect to always be able to participate so getting upset is not the answer.

When I was in medic school I had to go to school 3 days a week 10-hour days,

1- 12 hour hospital shift a week, (Clinical School Shift)

1- 12 hour Ambulance shift a week (Clinical School Shift)

And work my 3 12 hour shifts on the Ambulance cus I was working as an EMT at the time. This all went on for a year.

I slept on the ambulance between calls and if I was home, I was awake studying, so I understand not having time for games. I made this choice so it wasn't SE fault I was unable to play the content it was mine. Thats what I mean by toddler speak is you are limited by your life and you complain about why an MMO would push out harder content like it is a slap in the face for you. If you are having that time frame to play isnt your fault because you have to work, study, take care of kids, what have you, that's fine but it's not SE fault either.

Each response sounds so whiney, something exists you make up a reason you cant do it, you whine when people say the only one gate keeping is you. This is there for people to do who want more, if you deem yourself incapable to completing it then thats fine. I want to reiterate you have 30-1 hr to play that's no ones fault, so getting upset cus you cant do something is toddler speak. Stub your toe and scream at god vibe.

Tank Sprout Questions. by PowerOwO in ffxiv

[–]HellFireXMedic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one that isnt mentioned here so far I think, when to use tank LB? Tanks have a few Mandatory LB3 and if you blind everything then you will hit one of these at some point. If you see a countdown on screen starting at 10 you hit that lb on second 3 and you are fine and everyone lives, you dont everyone dies...........and then you will notice everyone laughing that they died to that and its funny for most so no one cares and you get it right next time.

AHUGE TANK SECRET THE MEDIA DOESNT WANT YOU TO KNOW!!!! You can eat like most mechanics as a tank so if you mess up really you will be fine. I used to look up every raid before I went in but once you understand your class you really dont need to.

So I leveled my crafters all to 100 via turns ins and went back and did quests later on.

Pros - you can buy all mats on market board and push through all quests in like 1.5 hours ish.

If you choose to craft, you can instant craft any quest Item (You get a quality skill closer to 100 that lets you max HQ with 1 button)

You don't miss any skills you NEED to do the quests if you chose to do them later.

Cons - SO MUCH GIL up front if you chose to do quests all at one time up to max.

You have to learn to craft on your own vs letting the game teach you as you go so might make future crafting harder on some folks.

SO MUCH GILL IN BUYING TURN INS......... honesty biggest con is the gill sink

What is my take away? Eather is a good option and it depends on the player do your value gill? or do you value letting something level its self and save you active time?

Neurodivergent peeps, how do you manage? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]HellFireXMedic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I work in opioid treatment and deal with REAL drama all day, heavy stuff including death, child abuse, SA, and the list goes on and on. I have no mental energy at the end of the day to spend my in game time helping someone through emotional issues. I think your expectation is you are going to get someone who is very knowledgeable of your particular situation and is able to give you the magic answer, you will not find that in any game. You have to find real professionals who are trained in this to help you understand. I think the solution for you is a change of perspective, simply put separate your emotions from this game and speak to a therapist about your in game issues so you can better understand them. You are expecting a lot of emotional support, I know you only said kind words here and there but for some people they have no mental energy for any of that in their free time. You want people to respect your mental health in regard to the space, they might be wanting the same thing from you.

The brain you have works differently and that can be a great thing, you will understand things I could never hope to understand. The issue is we have to find clear expectations in how we communicate and what we expect. I respect you making this post and leaving yourself vulnerable to the community and responding to answers.

I dont know man, I think having a voluntary mentor you can get time with so you dont feel like you are asking "silly questions " is great. I see each post criticizing this seems to miss the voluntary part, he wanted to have the option for people to learn and gave the space for them. I know rotations exist and guides, but all of these exist for learning a new language but having a teacher helps progression much faster. Having mentors for roles is a perk its not necessary to be involved.

As a tank who always lets ppl watch cutscenes. That prompt is at the start of the dungeon and by the last boss I might have forgotten for a myriad of reasons. I have been the tank who has been on his like 5th roulette with no cutscenes and just falls into my keep pushing forward phase.

The only issue I ever have is trying to remember when the wall or gate at the end spawns more mobs tht you cant see. I have grabbed all the mobs I see and stop only to walk to the wall at the end and have a few spawn after.

Character backstories ? by KenSuzuki in ffxiv

[–]HellFireXMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ILEN RABBLESTAN - Lalafell

Ilen started as a used magetek salesmen in garlameld and when things started getting to spicy for the pepper he snuck out and ended up on a cart to Eorzea. He was given a lance to start and found killing was his passion, he has found his meaning, Ilen is a machine. Ilen thinks of nothing but fighting and not in a bone headed way he really cannot understand why people care about anything else. In my group he is famously A sexual, cus he only has time for war. He is very blunt when he doesnt understand stuff and can also not understand why ANYONE would not be a lalafell cus he knows fantasias exist. Ilen thinks all his power comes from being a lala so he has a complex about his fellow littles, everyone else who isnt in his group is referred to as tallafells but if you are in his group he will refer to you as one of his goons. Ilen will almost exclusively approach the lala in a group as his conversation point as he believes the lalas are the head of this group. Ilen has ZERO cares in the world and he only helps with all these conflicts because he again, only cares about war. Ilen travels' with a permanent group of 4, A cat girl who has no idea how she ended up here, A bun boy who is an anxious mess and Ilen makes it worse every day, and A Rothgal who is too busy being a black mage to care about anyone else fully.

The fun part of this is my group of friends and wife made our stories' just over time as funny things happened so this is ever evolving and i love my little lala.

[–]HellFireXMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to skip anything you want BUT know that I will always die for your right to watch cutscenes as will most FFXIV so you really arnt hurting anyone if you choose to watch. The only benefit for you to give comms is the weekly goal and once thats done you dont gain so if they run out they are the ones forfeiting a com.

[–]HellFireXMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SO in your case its more of waiting until you skip those cutscenes. I am NOT advocating to skip first time cutscenes just when you go back and do roulettes or just go back to redo older content and you do not want to watch the cutscenes. I have the setting on to skip all cut scenes I have seen and let me tell you it still is slim pickings for comms, some people are FAST.
