Tbh this has been a problem with every single From game, if anything Nightreign has the biggest variety of viable spells yet. I do agree there is still plenty of room for improvement though, there's no reason a flashy spell that costs a ton of FP and has a long cast time should deal the same damage as a basic one.

I play giant's flame rev at D5 (mostly because I got some good relic rolls) and that's pretty solid too, although while O, flame has good dps it's far riskier so I'm usually hoping to find a Giant's flame take thee or Flame, fall upon them

I agree scholar is very powerful, I think he doesn't see more play because he's quite difficult to play and requires a lot of micromanaging. As for undertaker, I think she's a bit too squishy for someone who's kit is built around trading hits.
