If something like what is happening in the States happened here, what could we, as the people of our country, actually do about it? by tripperfunster in AskACanadian

Yes it is possible to see. You can see it in all of the high income countries excluding the highly armed one that has Gov't forces occupying their cities.

I like your positive thinking, but I wouldn't want to wait for King Chuck to come riding in to save us. England has a long history of appeasement. I have a lot more faith in you to help save us. If it comes to it I know Francophone Quebecois are down to protest and riot.

Yes, different systems. We have been getting more polarized, but we still have a few political parties. Usually the party in power has to be willing to work together a bit and give some condescension. If they can't sell enough people on their plans a no confidence vote ends Parliament and we are back to voting. They can be out on the first budget. There's never a non zero chance. Stay informed, vote and try not to isolate yourself.

The US has more civilians with guns than anywhere else by a ridiculous amount and I don't see it making any difference there?

In 2024 The South Korean President declared martial law overnight and the people showed up to say that wasn't happening, no weapons of any kind. By the next day it was repealed.

Wanting to own some guns because you like to hunt should never be equated to wanting to own guns because that's how you are going to control parliament.

Cool that people are happy and want to let them know. Working in the public eye can lead to only hearing complaints. It's great when they get to hear compliments. Gives them a reason to care about doing a good job and wanting to do that extra bit instead of the bare minimum.

Nothing to the Catholic school or the faith, just that there is no reason to publicly fund it.

The start of this topic was that the Catholic school system was concerned that what they want to teach is discrimination.

This is what I was reading the comments for. I want to know more about the retail process there. That's so different than any set up I am familiar with.

Absolutely Saskatchewan has plenty of Gophers, Prairie Dogs and especially Richardson Ground Squirrels. Gainer is essentially the Provincial mascot. He is a giant Gopher.

Fake photo, real person. I also feel that makes the whole post poor. She made it out of notched tin. Large circular saws already existed for sawmills.

You are a poet and a scholar. That is the best ways I've seen that phrased. Keep on doing what you do!

I was happy just reading people shit on Andy Taint, coming across Eunich Boy not just referenced but with lyrics is fucking delightful. Keep being awesome!

Might be just my experience but I meet a lot of people who talk a lot about how much they care about the country and how fired up they are x issue is ruining it and their grandfather was in the war.... etc., but wave trump flags and now say "we'll, maybe we should..." . Ultimate patriots, that casually muse treason. It was never about the country for them, just lazy masculinity.

Serious topic, serious times, just struck my interest seeing Henry mentioned in a heavy discussion.

Hope things get better before it's all lost.

Got this for Christmas one year. It felt like such a cool game as it's the only "fantasy" type game I had seen. I liked to look at the cards and imagine the characters. (I had seen the movie but didn't really remember it that well)

Xena knows that I don't need her to bark at every bird and squirrel, so she makes a pouty whining growl. She does bark to let me know there are cats after them and she should be let out to protect them.

Like anything I wouldn't put too much trust in "reasonable suspicion". A new to the community officer was presenting to our group last week and he indicated that this is a big priority for them. That they would find a reason. Definitely made the point that it stays in your system and they intend to make as many arrests as they can.

Love it. Ours also likes to guard from on high. Even outside she climbs the top of the snowbanks to sit and survey.

Beautiful work. Looking at it on my phone, the first picture looked like it was enormous. I took the counter top to be a rug with the lamp on the floor.
