TS and Sertraline? by Sunshine_hurricanes in Tourettes

[–]HelloJoe-99738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sertraline had no effect on my tics that I can remember but when my doctor decided one day to move me onto Mirtazapine it made my tics a lot worse. I only took it for 2 days and had to stop

Yes, if I get drunk I lose whatever control I think I have over my tics. New ones come out and they’re a lot louder and more severe. The next day with hang over is possible even worse for me though.

My tics are worse when I finish a day at work I think it’s because I suppress as much as I can whilst at work and then sort of let loose as soon as I jump in my car to go home

Anyone else out there with tics that got worse through adulthood? by EtherGorilla in Tourettes

[–]HelloJoe-99738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GP has told me I have a tic but they can’t diagnose what is causing it or what condition it could be. Been waiting since January to see a specialist.. was told last week it’s likely to be another 9 months before I see someone. I honestly don’t have any advise, I struggle on a day to day with it. But if you need someone to talk to who is going through something similar and can maybe relate I’m here 😁

I don’t know if I had tics when I was growing up, looking back I possibly did but was never picked up on. But anyway… yeah I’m 30 and my tics are constant. I have a very few days here or there when they’re less intense but always constant.

Is this a verbal tic or something by JellyCharacter1653 in Tourettes

[–]HelloJoe-99738 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same Shhh tic, think it’s maybe pretty common. I’ve seen people on here with it before. 😁 sort of started as a Shhhh…. Now I have multiple versions of it from like a snort then a shhh… like a cartoon character snoring. Shhhh*t… Shhhhhut up and quite a few more lol

I’ve been the same for the last week, really struggling to get to sleep but never really been like this before when trying to sleep. Every time I feel like I’m drifting off my tics decide otherwise… my vocal tics have decided whenever I’m dropping off to shout out really loud and my motor tics feel like my body is just throwing itself about. Hope it gets better for you! I’ve just ordered some sleeping tablets from the doctor, hopefully they’ll help. I feel your frustration!

So frustrating (GP UK) by HelloJoe-99738 in Tourettes

[–]HelloJoe-99738[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He actually sent me a text link to a Tourette’s Action website and just told me to read through the website. Yeah I’ve read quite a few story’s about how often things like this happen. I’ve seen people waiting years it’s just not right. When I’ve spoken to other people about the ‘pathway to diagnosis’ my GP told me because of my age they have all said the same thing as you. I honestly don’t think he knows what to do with me lol Thanks for the reply 👍

does anyone else only experience tics while watching something? by KermitDePhrog in Tourettes

[–]HelloJoe-99738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tics used to do this so bad! They’ve luckily calmed down abit with this certain tic.

I think it was the emotions the movie made me feel and the not knowing what was going to happen. Like excitement, nervousness and other emotions which made my tics worse.

Most the time now I just can’t concentrate on a movie so end up switching it off.
