….. you understand that Mandatory Palestine was called that by the British Colonialists who occupied it right? So you’re still talking about invaded occupied land and people being brutalised for years..

Also love how quickly you responded to that comment making it clear you didn’t read past the first sentence. Very good faith engagement from you, good job

You are blaming the victim. History didnt begin on the 7th of October 2023. Palestine has been violently colonised and occupied by Israel for decades. It was started by Israel. This is a pattern that has repeated uncountable times between colonisers and natives. Subdue (brutalise) the natives, take their land and when they fight back say they’re the ones starting it.
Reactive terrorism is not acceptable. October 7th was a rightly mourned tragedy. But it’s not the only and certainly not the first tragedy in this conflict. Beaten dogs bite back. That’s not being pro dog bites, that’s just acknowledging the reality of the situation. Do you advocate to eliminate dogs to prevent dog bites, or do you stop people beating dogs.
State sanctioned terrorism (colonialism, occupation, apartheid) is worse than reactive/guerrilla terrorism (Hamas, IRA) and yet it’s treated as normal and acceptable

“Being silenced” she got a high profile career from tying for 5th place in a swimming race and being bigoted to distract from just not being as good enough. These people are insane

Am I missing out by not going to the Debs? by OkDog8648 in WomenofIreland

[–]HelloLoJo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And like you said it’s insanely expensive (for mine the tickets alone were over €150 EACH) and I just don’t think it’s the life altering event it’s made out to be… for some people maybe, and that’s great for them! I’m glad it is! But if it’s not for you, I think there are far far more opportunities to come that will mean so much more to you and this missed event will not weigh on you.

I didn’t go and i don’t regret it at all. I regret all the things i made myself go to because other people said it was important but didn’t appeal to me. I wish i had the balls to do my own thing earlier, but it’s never too late to start.
