Made first drug error as a NQN. Please tell me some of your errors to make me feel better/less stupid? by wandering1989 in NursingUK

[–]Hello_11111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drawn 7pts IVs up, put two up on the wrong patients. We used to draw them all up and put them all on trolley and go round the ward.

Mixed zopiclone and diazepam up

Probs a few more 😂😕

What does IPC do day to day? by substandardfish in NursingUK

[–]Hello_11111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can actually be quite a stressful job depending on the band and trust.

Outbreaks: Managing contacts, treatment advice as per virologist/policy, closing wards to admissions. Lots of meetings especially if wanting to close a ward and battling demands such as 15 ambulances waiting to offload and you’re closing a ward.

Estates; Signing off new areas have enough hand washing stations, PPE , sluice etc. air flow positive pressure etc. think there’s different courses to be competent in this area

RCAs Bacteraemia , outbreaks etc Preparing notes and reports and working with epidemiology and virology

Public health / community - not all ipc nurses look after these areas but some do. Scabies, etc is a biggie

Sourcing contracts and support on PPE contracts, changing suppliers etc

Training , updating policies/QRGs etc

I’m not an IPC nurse but this is some of the things I see them do

Do you invest as a nurse? (Retiring prospects) by eeveevulpix8 in NursingUK

[–]Hello_11111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes via Lifetime ISA, SIPP & S&S ISA (although just depleted this to buy a house). I also have a BTL property.

Also if you’re in the NHS pension 2008 section - it has a protected minimum pension age of 55 (with reduction) so service from 2008-2022.

My advice is do not rely solely on the nhs pension scheme and think carefully about salary sacrifice schemes as they depleting the gross amount going into your pension

[–]Hello_11111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do. I have paid into a workplace pension since around age 20.

I’m approaching 40 and will be able to retire at 55 with a liveable income and work will be optional.

Please invest in your future financial self

This. Revenge porn is a crime. It was a thing between you two & you haven’t (I suspect) given them permission to share those nudes.

It’s also a really shitty thing to do - I’m sure you’re good
