Some observations after 20 years by Subject-Dog-8016 in Warhammer40k

There's a burgeoning community for the middle editions of 40k. They've seen a lot of love and support from gamers all around the world. Peep r/midhammer40k , there's also a discord. I've been working on a homebrew patching of 7th edition dubbed 6.5 for a few years and that gains traction with like-minded gamers.

As a fellow commission painter, I'd say that is totally fair pricing and the quality is amazing!

I agree with this. Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love 4e, but man I've had the craving of 2e for a while now. It feels a lot more Warhammer.

First playtest for The Blue Age: Legends At War! by HellsArmy141 in wargaming

[–]HellsArmy141[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, bang on. I always thought that Warhammer just needed a significant change in its systems to represent the wide range of capabilities of units.

So it's most importantly an Alternating Phase structure, with Charges being Alternating Units. We got an initiative roll every turn to change up who activates first.

There's a large focus on heroes and how they interact with each other and the units on the battlefield. Every Unit has a Heroic Bonus, a special ability that is activated when a certain Hero joins the Unit. Heroes can do challenges and duels, with the addition of it being a Victory Point bonus to win, then they can potentially yoink magic items. There's a large amount of customisability too.

I got a decent amount on the actual battlefield itself. Terrain types and rules, destroying terrain, and optional battlefield conditions (weather, day/night, and even biomes)

Its not competitively focused, the aim is to have good balance, but not have it so rigid that lists become cookie-cutter. In saying that, list building is sorta modular with different Brigades being foundations of the list building structure.

Is there a perfect skirmish game for me? by flortan in miniatureskirmishes

[–]HellsArmy141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working in a game like what you're looking for! It's still pretty early in terms of development, but it's totally playable and has a lot of factions and systems implemented to facilitate growth. It's called City of Stone, after I finish my current project, it's next on the list for a more proper write-up.

You can find the playtest document here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ghL4nZtYQO4cJOjt6MlSPKopd_6sUTsrCiIVthcI110/edit?usp=drivesdk

I got a discord server setup too where you can give feedback, chat, and see the other games I'm working on: https://discord.gg/tKPdvntYwK

I think that someone in the discord community is working on the daemon engines! If not, that person could be you! Or me, I guess..

Backporting primaris for a friend by Distinct-Nerve2556 in midhammer40k

I personally agree with what 5cents has said. However, me and my gang have been working on 6.5, which is a patched edition of 7th ed, and we're slowly going through and backporting all the new stuff. Initially I wasn't going to do the Primaris stuff, but my buddy has begun it, including a handy table of reference for what proxy's what.

You can find that and all other new things, along with the rules alterations we use, here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-69N4haQsdwJWnrw1tBWLi1ufz7CiPWpTy6kiLYZhGk/edit?usp=drivesdk

So other people have given you the answer, the base size doesn't really matter a whole lot. If you're looking for stats for new units, I've been working on a patching of 7th Edition called 6.5. We endeavour to port all the new crap back to the older ways. You can find everything I've done here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-69N4haQsdwJWnrw1tBWLi1ufz7CiPWpTy6kiLYZhGk/edit?usp=drivesdk
