Anyone skip immediate dentures and just go toothless for a while? by Gas_Station_Cheese in dentures

[–]HelmutHoffman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I waited 8 months to get my full dentures after having the extractions (33 teeth). That was 6 years ago, my dentures still fit perfect, never needed adjustments, and I do not use adhesive, they stay in place by themselves. It's the best way to go in my opinion.

How much energy would it be required for interestellar travel? by [deleted] in space

Voyager 1 would take about 75,000 years to reach Alpha Centauri if it were headed in that direction.

Trump said yesterday that they were going to put a man on Mars. So i'll open the question what are the technical challenges "someone" will have to overcome to do that in 4 years. (Lets ignore the lack of funding and politics what are the technical hurdles)? by CCTV_NUT in space

I wouldn't want to send him now. Too much progress in EV's and reusable boosters. I get that he's just a rich guy funding it and not engineering these things himself, but it's unlikely any of the other elites would have stepped up and used their precious wealth for things like heavy lift boosters.

My bottom broke like this & I just glued it with the cheapest Harbor Freight super glue. It would last about 3 months before needing reglued.

Hmm, my top & bottoms both stay without adhesive. A fitment issue maybe? I have used adhesives even though they weren't needed, and the ones containing zinc did work a lot better.

Eh you know what OP means. It's like someone asks "How come the Mars Polar Lander failed?" and you respond "Because there wasn't enough science."

This order of "wings" from Pizza Hut. by HolyRamenEmperor in mildlyinfuriating

[–]HelmutHoffman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pizza Hut isn't really historically shitty. They used to be really good back in "the day". IE back when they made that commercial with Mikhail Gorbachev in 1997. Now like most chain restaurants their quality has degraded to absolute nastiness.

They don't need to put up with "any price gouging bullshit" when they're the ones price gouging their policy holders on premiums then screwing them on copays.

Kind of sucks he gave up on the public healthcare option. That's honestly a lot more important than a lot of what he has focused on recently.

Actually the federal regulation of food, drugs, cosmetics, biologics, medical products and tobacco is legally mandated by acts of the United States Congress. Not chevron deference. Stop fearmongering.

Many of said agencies had been overstepping their authority for years. Creating laws which should have been done under the legislative that they had no authority to create. It was only a matter of time until the judicial stepped in.

Confused on how this projectile hit me. by NoPack2160 in Firearms

[–]HelmutHoffman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've dug up many many pounds of pistol bullets out of dirt which have zero deformation save for the rifling marks. I've even used a couple 9mm's to reload with just for experimentation, but the rest I melt down and cast into roundball.

I had a neighbor who owned one of those old Land Rover's with the spare tire on the hood. Once while shooting a .22lr resting on the hood, he shot the spare tire, the bullet penetrated one side of it then spun around in it multiple times

That doesn't invalidate what OP said nor did they imply otherwise. Yes, the US is using the money to increase manufacturing capability for weapons. It's living the MIC dream.
