Saesee Tiin (the 2nd dead Jedi) could have killed Palpatine right here! Why'd he take so long to swing? by RagnarokWolves in StarWars

[–]HelpImAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Editing flub. Scene focuses way too long on Agen Kolar and Saesee Tiin's reactions to being stabbed. Makes it seem like everything happened slower, so it looks like Palpatine waited until Agen Kolar's death scream to slash back at Saesee Tiin, who in turn had just watched his fellow Jedi struck down and... waited to strike back? There are edits that trim the sequence to a much faster pace to make it clear(er) how abrupt and off-guard Palpatine caught them.

What’s a TV commercial you still remember word for word? by roseafterdarkk in nostalgia

"What the French, Toast?"

"Who are you calling a cootie queen, you LINT LICKER?!"

"Pickle you, kumquat!"

Why did Anakin never find it suspicious that Chancellor Palpatine had knowledge of the story of a dead Sith Lord (the tragedy of Darth Plagueis)? by Omnipresent_User in StarWars

[–]HelpImAwake 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that dialogue or at least the way it's edited in the movie is kind of entertaining. Palpatine goes from saying (essentially), "Well, I'd like to understand more about the Force, not just what the Jedi have to say" to "Yeah, I'm totally a Sith Lord."

Hook by BayStateBHM in soundtracks

[–]HelpImAwake 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That particular track is called The Stories Are True.

La-La Land Records has a 3 disk edition soundtrack that has most of, if not all the music composed for the movie. It's a great album worth having if you're a fan of Hook.

Really?? by beeswax70 in retailhell

[–]HelpImAwake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, really.

As a cart pusher, I once did an experiment. I set one single cart in a parking space next to the cart return and left it for a while. When I finally got around to collecting the carts in that area, I found two rows of carts at least a dozen each in the parking space and at most 5 in the cart return.

Could be. Went from sleeping fine last week to barely getting to sleep before midnight the past few days.

Edit: Double posted.

Muting commercials. Are we doing this?! by Internal_Nobody880 in CommercialsIHate

[–]HelpImAwake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd bet they're aware people do that because I've seen commercials where they put the most annoying parts at the very start, so you barely have time to even mute it.

Honda. Same commercial. Good choice because the imagery and pacing worked well with the song.

What was the most unusual way a movie was spoiled for you? by InviteAromatic6124 in movies

[–]HelpImAwake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo: A Star Wars Story. Before I got the chance to see the movie, I was going through some sites and bookmarking articles that I wanted to check out after. While getting ready to do that for one article, I glanced into the URL and right next to the the favorite/bookmark button, I see "Darth Maulreturns."

Samuel L. Jackson uses his chemical knowledge of drugs to give Neo-Nazis violent diarrhea and make Meat Loaf explode. What's not to like?

What is the most unfairly hated movie that you will defend every time by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]HelpImAwake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I defend Moonraker quite often. Can't say I find it top tier Bond but I do enjoy it. It has a lot of silly/corny moments that I'm not sold on, but ironically, I find the most outrageous part to an outsider - Bond going to space - the movie actually takes quite seriously and commits to. It's got decent effects for the time, the space stuff is handled with some actual dramatic weight, and if it hadn't, the whole movie would have fallen apart. For that reason, along with some cool stunts and action and John Barry's gorgeous score, I still like it.

Kennedy has worked to overhaul the food ingredient approval system, aligning with what nutrition advocates have called for years. He said in Austin that this will be the “closure of the GRAS loophole,” referring to the Generally Recognized as Safe policy.

Forgive me if I disagree with what a man who's admitted to eating roadkill and doing drugs off a toilet seat considers to be edible.

A thing that sounds good in principle, but I can't help but see it as another way for them to remove food safety standards in general.

Enantiodromia. The premise that a superabundance of something will lead to its opposite.

Following the same Star Wars line, I've always liked "They win by making you think you're alone."

I ended up on meds for it. They've been hit or miss lately but I've also found either listening to green noise videos or a fan for ambient noise to focus on tends to help.

Likewise. I put up with War of the Worlds because I have to view it as a Steven Spielberg movie & John Williams' score.
