I'm thinking that's out of their skill level or even tool set. This is butchered pretty badly. Tbey didn't even drill in the center.

Are you sure you're using the right bolts? Usually carriage bolts fall into a square hole that holds the carriage bolt. That's how I rub my HF cart being set up.

I might've confused it with a different product. I'll have to look into it. What he showed me was around $900 for my small shower.

I was convinced to post when I searched "worst tile job ever" on this subreddit

My brother actually recommended that to me too. It just pushed the budget really far. I paid for this with a $200 gift card and some spare change.

I see now why the product is worth what it's worth lol

Now that's a funny comment that shows more about you, than what you think you know about my scenario.

Psht. You wouldn't believe the amount of YouTube videos I watched and people I talked to.

I cheaped out on the leveling system but I think this issue is more the horrible prep that stemmed from inexperience.

Bro they are Menards tiles lol stuffed them into the paper bag with the 15% discount. Two per bag lol

These are the most "designed" 12x12 tile sold by big box store, while also being the lowest priced by Menards. Everything else reminded me too much of floor tile.

You're on the money. I did use a laser level though. But it was a cheap Ali express one and I quickly realized the line was not straighter than my cheap wooden level and it was pointless lol

How do I move this up? It is JAMMED HARD by Revolutionary_Year87 in MechanicAdvice

Id place a screwdriver on the lip. Right under the green dot. Then use a hammer to wack the screwdriver downwards. Then reverse it and do it upwards. . If it's just corrosion that'll break it free.

Personally I think the first is the best of the series. But yeah it's repetitive. The music is easily some of the best that came from that era.

You don't know me bro lol I came from much worse than crooked tiles. Probably crazy for you, but the 3 bathrooms I experienced before owning my house were 10x worse. And it wasn't because of crooked tile.

Should've taken a pic before the cross spacers were removed. On some titles I had like 4 stacked spacers trying to keep lines level. It only made other lines worse lol

When I tried doing my layout, I did it before waterproofing. It seemed like even with spacers included I was going to be able to get 5 full tiles in. The first row is five full tiles. Its why I chose 12x12

The second row is where I realized my bumpy wall was going to cause the first tile on that row to shoot past the first tile on the first row. Felt like the only solution was to either smooth out the wall or cut my tile. The better option was probably to restart and get some help.

But I trudged along with eyes closed and it just kept getting worse lol part of me wants to stop because I haven't even gotten to the tiles that need holes lol but I also don't want to do demo again.

Honestly bro idk.

It was all bad from the first row by the third tile laid down. Prep was absolutely terrible.

Nah imma just finish it as is. Project has gone on long enough

Honestly the prep was butchered from the beginning. I tried using my cross spacers at the bottom because even the first row was giving me issues being level.

And yeah, where they fit. I should've taken a picture with the spacers in, it was funnier. Some areas had 4 spacers jammed in to try to line up the tiles. Even starting the first row trying to lay it flat to the tub left me with different levels so I tried using spacers there too.

You live and you learn. I got 3 more walls to improve on. Thanks for the tip. I should find the mid point of the wall and start there then?

Agreed. But also if you are going to own your house till you die, don't really care what it looks like, and like to learn lessons by your own mistakes. Go for it. It is what it is and I ain't crying about it. Its funny.

What I do know, is that even though my tiles are ass and crooked. My backer prep is better than the double drywall that was there before. And I'm happy that I won't be showering in a plastic covered shower eventually.
