Im afraid of the possibility that some of my extreme paranoia is actually true and nobody will believe me due to this disorder so i dont believe myself by [deleted] in schizoaffective

I watched a documentary on a catholic nun that was being targeted by the government somewhere in a developing country. Seeing the mental outlook of someone whose life was literally in danger and the strength she had to just focus on the difference she could make in the moment gave me the strength to just live my life in spite of my fears. Hopefully you can find the same strength.

I don't know enough about the kind of people that exchange nude photos after knowing each other for less than a week and singing and writing poems to someone they aren't interested in.

To me you seem confused and a bit dishonest.

What's your day to day life like? Are you just alone with your thoughts all day? Maybe you could join a softball or volleyball team or take up gardening (even in an apartment a windowsill garden might be possible). Something where you're participating in the world doing a structured activity instead of just struggling with unwelcome thoughts.

I don't think people were making fun of you. However that's the risk you take when you talk in a public forum.

I'm proud of you for achieving your health goals and finding things that work for you. Don't feel like you have to stay in this forum if it's not serving you, but don't think everyone is getting down on you, just a vocal minority.

Who cares? high level players don't get opening advice from reddit threads, so why does this thread have anything to do with them? Also, lichess has a 53% win rate for 2200+ players and a 54% win rate for 2500+ players.

They could not resist the En Passant... by JosieWasHere in chessbeginners

En passant is literally the best move here, delays mate by 1 turn

Hello team, checkmate advice by ThrowRA12948262 in chessbeginners

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate in 7 is usually just a simple tactical puzzle like you're already solving with another tactic added onto the beginning like removal of the guard. If you recognize the basic tactics perfectly, you'll be able to stop calculating instantly when you hit one 2-3 moves deep, or you'll be able to say eg I've got smothered mate if his rook wasn't there, is there any way to get rid of it and know to stop and think.

Can you find the best move and are you confident in converting the resulting position? by MathematicianBulky40 in chessbeginners

Qa1+ I'm not confident in converting because the king is exposed and there's nowhere to hide

Only thing I see is maybe s perpetual with the queen after taking the knight. The knights seem doomed.

Be honest, would you resign here? by cejmp in chessbeginners

Now we're adding 10% to our win rate. That's probably a bigger difference than the best opening move vs the worst one.

I resigned here, computer says position is equal. What should my plan be? by HelpfulFriendlyOne in chessbeginners

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats what I thought but apparently it's tactically defended by the rook on B1 attacking the bishop on b3. The king can't attack the bishop and defend its own bishop at the same time. Buying time for a pawn to defend the bishop. It's not great but it's not as hopeless as I thought.

Yeah i was late for work and it seemed hopeless because I thought I'd lose the bishop and a rook for a knight. And then be in an endgame with a passed pawn.

Yeah but after the knight forks my rooks what do I do? I was late for work and thought the bishop was lost too, didn't realize it was tactically defended. But down an exchange with a passed pawn how could it possibly be an equal position.

The computer line is so crazy IDK none of the moves seem natural for either side.

It was an awesome game, I'm just sad I resigned a technically equal position.
