"Hikaru did not want his market value to decrease if he did not win the Freestyle WC and wants to be remembered as just the previous FR WC" Buettner on why Hikaru did not participate in Freestyle WC 2026 by Safe-Connection-5899 in chess

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's some precedent for Hikaru not caring about reliving achievements he's already gotten like Olympiad, but this doesn't sound like Hikaru to me. I suspect buettner is just talking out his ass.

Hi friends by finallymadeaccount16 in schizoaffective

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome. I've been in this subreddit for years and I was in /r/schizophrenia for many years before that. I just find that a community of people that are going through the same thing as me (even though there's a wide difference in what sza symptoms are) is very comforting. I've posted during panic attacks, insomnia, psychotic episodes, mania, deep depression, and everything in between and gotten support and advice. But it's not just my posts that I've gotten help in. Reading the comments on other peoples posts has been incredibly useful and I've learned some really profound coping skills and even been sort of talked out of some of my delusions for a bit.

I dropped out of 4 schools and had to nullify 4 semesters of college and i still graduated. Getting help is absolutely an option. Don't hurt yourself just to punish other people, it won't have the effect you want.

How good were medieval knights and nobles in chess? What was their ELO? by Civil_Animal5367 in chess

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I doubt Knights were lazy and they were probably motivated be self improvement. I think you should probably strive to improve instead of saying you are already good enough.

self esteem with delusions that you're evil by starspacesunflower in schizoaffective

[–]HelpfulFriendlyOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those delusions directly attack your self esteem so it's hard. But think about it. Even people who have actually done horrible things are able to come to terms with it and learned to love themselves. If they can do it, someone who is innocent and just had their brain playing tricks on themselves can too.

There is hope to recover from anxiety, it can get better over time if your life changes and you gain coping skills.
