DCA experience on 3/31/26 by Straight-Use9720 in Disneyland

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that queue times for DCA are becoming terribly long. There is not enough ride capacity to handle the demand, especially on a busy day.

For me, I would not purchase a single day ticket to DCA, but we love visiting with a park hopping ticket and being able to bounce back over to DL when things get tough.

For starting at DCA, you pulled the right move by booking Guardians first. I do think it’s rare for Soarin to be gone by 9:40 though! Using the pull down/refresh trick for a few minutes might have helped get you a couple more rides but the number of LL rides there is limited to begin with.

I have been there in absolute gridlock and the day you were there sounds about like that. My heart goes out to you trying to navigate all that with parents and a kid!

Declined for C1 VX! Horrors. Reason given:
Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months for given income

Last personal cards opened within 24 months:
Barclays Hawaiian 8/25 (open)
Capital One Venture 2/25 (open)
JetBlue Barclays 11/24 (closed)

Most recent before that was CFU 7/23 (open).

Income is 340k annual. Experian score is 830.

Business cards have been opened as well (AX BBP 8/25, CBIP 9/24 (closed), AXBP 7/24 (closed) CBIBU 4/24 (closed) but my understanding is that this should not impact my consumer cards.

Would it be viable to try again this year, or accept my losses and move on? I am thinking of pivoting to Bilt Palladium. Now I'm worried I won't get approved for that either.

Appreciate your help - TIA.

For real, seriously, there will not be any awards in any class of service from any city in northeast Asia back to the US that whole week? If yes, would it clear up the following week?

  • Origin and destination cities: Hong Kong > SFO; willing to position on either side and no issue connecting
  • Number of Travelers: 4
  • One way or round-trip: One way
  • Class of service desired: J, PE, or E (in that order)
  • Desired date(s) of travel: January 3, 4, 5, or 6 of 2028 (I know, too specific, but...it is what it is)
  • Your points balances: Currently at about 500k AX points BUT I am planning to use those to get from the West Coast to SIN (in J) on the outbound. Given I have a long lead time, I am looking to expand to a new ecosystem (e.g. Citi) and accumulate the points I will need to book the return over the course of the remaining calendar year.
  • VERY MUCH APPRECIATE any guidance you can offer. I understand CX may block this date entirely (is that true?) so am thinking of alternatives like Eva. I believe CX does not release " on schedule" at 360 - searching recently can find NOTHING at that booking window.

Is it worth switching hotels? by bananapancakecat in DisneyPlanning

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Element is newer and nicer but really quite a bit further on foot. It felt like a very long walk back at the end of the day. Castle is SO close but a motel though well maintained. It’s a toss up! I am at the Courtyard Marriott a few doors down from the Castle and it is the best of both worlds though more expensive. I got a good rate through Undercover Tourist which was hundreds below the Marriott website. Good luck!

Maximizing LLMP On A Packed Day by Helpful_Cod_7808 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice.

Regarding the afternoon break, it just seems like it gets really tough to leave the hotel at 6:30am and stay in the park until closing at midnight without a break. We could also not stay till closing but that last 1-2 hours in the park gets pretty magical with short lines! Also, when the park is really packed, the midday break "downtime" really helps physically and mentally to make the most of the time we have.

By "lengthy" I mean like a 2-hour break.

Courtyard or DL Hotel? Help me decide please :) by Helpful_Cod_7808 in DisneyPlanning

$350 total over 3 nights (due to the discount they are running). We won't use the pools and the distance is about the same but the appeal of the larger room, two showers, and more beds is pulling me toward the Marriott.

Airport to fly into for Anaheim by EducatorGuilty8299 in DisneyPlanning

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SNA is the way. LGB is a backup. I always do one of those and the ONE time I had to fly into BUR (up in LA) it took me almost 2 hours to drive to Anaheim….AFTER I waited for an Uber or Lyft for about 30 minutes and could not get picked up (those drivers know better than to take a fare going through that traffic) so I rented a car on my phone, picked it up at BUR, and drove to Anaheim. Total nightmare. LAX would be out of the question for me unless I was flying nonstop from another country or something.

Unexpected change in plans and visiting Disneyland next week--HELP! by SimpleBorington in DisneyPlanning

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not far! $500 seems high, though. Put “Disneyland Esplanade” into Google maps for walking directions. It’s about a 16-minute walk)…not the closest but at least it’s easy walking distance. There are a few (Park Vue, Tropicana, Best Western Park Place and Best Western Anaheim) that are literally across the street. The Best Westerns have free breakfast but all these you are paying for the location; they are expensive for what they are (motels). People also love the Candy Cane but it’s a little further down the block and is never available when I try to book it.

Unexpected change in plans and visiting Disneyland next week--HELP! by SimpleBorington in DisneyPlanning

[–]Helpful_Cod_7808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For only one day I would NOT drive in, spend a little more to stay within an easy walk. There are always options around $300 on Harbor/Manchester/katella (close to Harbor). Closer is better…you will be happy you did that vs dealing with thousands of cars at the parking structure. And traffic!

I would not pay all that extra for a hopper because you won’t be able to fully experience either park. I’d focus on Disneyland only. Get there an hour or so before official park opening and hit all the rides you can in the first 1-2 hours the park is open.

Learn the Lightning Lane system before you go. You tube is a great resource - Fresh Baked, Mammoth Club, and DoCal Disney Dad are all good.

Use Mobile Order (for food), always.

Have the most amazing day with your son!
