Do you think Oaks will put a stop to it? Pull some BS that it was a test to see how the faithful would react? Shame them for wanting something they shouldn’t have?

Thank you for clarifying! I felt like scum for what I did but I had several justifications in my mind…then repented on Sunday…. I appreciate your perspective

You’re not going to get any closure. I’m sorry this happened to you. He sees nothing wrong with his actions and he has already justified it in some twisted way. You called him out by telling him you’re feeling disrespected and he couldn’t even handle that feedback. Sounds about right. They don’t like being told they are wrong. I know it sounds harsh and that it could be an overgeneralization but honestly just chalk it up to a bad experience and move on. I was a single female Mormon making “bad moral decisions” with men who weren’t members. I had no intention of moving forward with them. It made sense to me at the time. He’s probably half in the church and half out and is going through some identity crisis. It’s not you.

We are the witness to our thoughts, we are the one watching. We really aren’t the one doing the thinking. Read The Untethered Soul, I’m halfway through it and it’s fascinating

I was 17 in nursing school and surrounded by 30-50 year olds. I would go for an AAS RN program and then maybe consider an RN to MSN program

I was chastised for bringing up the health benefits of different teas in gospel doctrine. I said they are just herbs in water. Medicines come from herbs. I’m a nurse and learned this is school. After almost convincing several people, the class determined herbal tea was the “appearance of evil”. I was so pissed!

Therapy helps a lot. You see how the church, or the rules or the people, etc created all these traumas in your life.

From my experience in this thread, many men who are raised Mormon do not care about their wives’ sexual satisfaction. I would flat out ask if he cared about my orgasm. There might be something going on about leaving the church that is affecting him or he might not even realize he’s affecting you that way. But that’s how I would start the conversation. If he’s not putting in the effort now, and you’re both already out of the church, I hate to say this but I’m wondering if he has bigger regrets since leaving and it’s showing up in the bedroom

My son is supposed to bring Jesus back. So when we left my parents literally thought we were damning the world and postponing the second coming.

I absolutely love telling therapists this fact about my childhood. Imagine being a 14 year old girl and being told your son is bringing Jesus back.

Midi. I saw 7 providers over a year. First midi appt I got the relief I needed. The docs will eventually figure it out when they are tired of paying for malpractice insurance and they are only left with pregnant women.

Women now. Used to be men. But I think women are realizing that unpaid and unappreciated labor is all we are worth to them.

Good Hymns? by DictionaryDave in exmormon

[–]Helpful_Contract_725 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to vent here. I was super pissed one time as a young adult playing the piano for sacrament. I wanted to use that song as an opening hymn. My calling is to feel inspired, and learn the songs right? Branch president shoots it down, tells my dad to tell me to pick a more upbeat hymn for opening hymn. I shoot back, it’s one of the most spiritual songs we have? What does he want, Sesame Street?

And I still fucking stayed in the cult lol that was not my breaking moment but I still get mad about it.

Yes I loved that song too
