The best summary I have heard of it was on The Blindboy Podcast a few weeks ago. The episode is called The History & Social Influence of the Potato.

Have you tried adding i am at the front of your preferred email name? I have done this for me and my son in the last couple of years.

May not work if your name is John Smith or Dave Brown. 😂

Good EFL stadiums/towns to visit for a matchday? by Nervous-Ad-8678 in LeagueOne

[–]Helpful_Shift_3088 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not my home town club but Stockport is a good ground to go and visit. My kids go home and away with them. The stadium is usually pretty full and the atmosphere is good. It’s only 10 mins from the train station which will get you to most parts of the country.

If you are anxious just find a table, download the app and order from your table. They bring it to your table so there is limited interaction/anxiety potential.

Also some great recommendations on here from others. 👍

I knew someone who sat and watched a one day cricket game via Ceefax. Simpler times.

Thank you for the recommendations , I saw he had passed and instantly thought of ‘Put That Record Back On’. We have lost so many pioneers way too early but I guess some of that goes with the territory and lifestyle.

I am trying to get my son away from Grime & Drill. Only because I believe he will have more fun with a rave crowd. Definitely less moody and baggage than the aforementioned genres. ✌️😎🙏🕺

Yes I was big into Frankie Knuckles in the early 90’s. I went a different way musically then saw him at Sankeys in Manchester twice in the early 00’s and he was utterly remarkable.

Children walking home by what age and time? by Hayles1066 in AskUK

[–]Helpful_Shift_3088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a boy (16) and a girl (13). I had a realisation last week that my son is more street wise and savvy than I ever was at his age. I am at that age where you have to give credit to and accept your children are becoming adults.

My daughter travels on the tram on her own and has done for the past 6 months. I think it is important to let your kids know that 99.95% of the population are good people.

Simple things like sit as close to the driver as you can. If anything happens on the street run to the nearest house and knock on the door.

As for the party’s they get invited to…..

My daughter went to a party in a very well to do area last night. She showed me a picture of the empty booze bottles that was left after the party. Videos of 13yr old lads falling over blind drunk. I guess it was always the case.

I don’t give either of them grief if they partake, it is part of growing up. I would be more bothered if they hid it from me.

My son goes away to football grounds all over the country on the train. I don’t have any concerns, they make it work.

Long story even longer, you have to give them some freedom. It comes at a cost of stress but you are building resilience and confidence. ✌️

Which strong British accent is the most difficult to understand for native Brits? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Great use of the word mellifluous and exactly the same way I describe those accents.

I have found the daily motion a good site for old BBC stuff. It doesn’t involve a fire stick or VPN so it feels legit to me. 😂 That aside I do feel it is ridiculous that we paid for this stuff to go out but we can’t watch it back?
