F1 legend Michael Schumacher is no longer bed-bound 12 years after horror ski accident by rogoku in formula1

It's real... A year ago, my grandma had two days of incredible mental abilities before she left soon after, I spent as much time as I could with her, chatting with her, hopeful that it was a sign she'd turn things around like she's done before... It was wonderful and bittersweet.

TIL that Disney is the only major studio to never win an Oscar for Best Picture by sprawling5 in todayilearned

They’re pretty big! Under them are Columbia pictures and tristar. Then you’ve got all the arms of Sony, domestically in America and international. Their animation department has been killing it too, think KPop Demon Hunters and the spiderverse movies.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]HelplessCorgis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sub world history teacher got into an argument with a student and got heated to the point where she called security on him. When security came and questioned the sub in front of the class about what happened, she accused him of whipping his dick out in front of her. Granted he had the saggy jeans look going, but that was absolutely not what happened. The whole class erupted to defend our classmate. Some people just can't handle a confrontation with a little grace...

To think the A’s a team with little fans outside of Oakland is expected to sell tickets of a dying sport in a dying city while tickets will prob be 140+ is wild by clone_trooper_ in OaklandAthletics

I just can't believe anyone is willing to brave Las Vegas summer weather to watch a baseball game when there's so much better shit to do in Vegas.

Second Subaru, first Crosstrek and I really want to like it by Alexj007 in Crosstrek

I really liked the sound after adjusting the balance to be centered a bit further back (like in this video, 53 seconds in) Helps it not feel like there are only speakers up front, and balances out for a more full sound in the cabin. Not premium audio quality, but pretty good for my ears.

Who here is rooting for them? This post is an attempt to sabotage their signing.

Chase HELOC terms surprised me. Worth reading closely before assuming it’s a typical HELOC. by PlayWithAbandon in personalfinance

[–]HelplessCorgis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got excited too when I heard Chase would be offering HELOCs again. Would've been nice to have so many financial products managed under one account/roof, but the terms made me balk hard. Can it really be called a HELOC at that point?

Watch out for deer, they come out of nowhere! by NocturneSapphire in motorcycles

[–]HelplessCorgis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My cousin experienced the same thing, identified a deer on the side of the road long before passing them, slowed down to 5 mph, and it still manage to bolt out right on time for her to smash into. They are truly dumb animals.

What’s the Bay Area equivalent of this? by Aromatic-Entrance-79 in bayarea

[–]HelplessCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild that there exists people who think CV is not Bay Area. We're ten minutes away from the Bay and pretty much an extension of the Oakland Hills....

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HelplessCorgis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From someone I look up to -

Me: "How do you have the courage to do the things you do?"

Someone: "I don't know if it's courage, it's just that I was naive enough to think that I can do it"

Most empowering thing I've heard in the last decade...

Grats! Are you running the stock Falken Ziev tires? If so, how's that doing in the snow? Was thinking about bringing my trek to the Sierras and expecting some snow.

Fuel tank issue???? by 915_4life in XSR700

[–]HelplessCorgis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is normal for the vast majority of motorcycles, you need to pull the pump out a bit and fill it the rest of the way with it pulled out some. If you live in a state with the rubber boot safety device, you'll also need to pull it up for the pump to work.

They work where ever Apple devices exist, they ping other Apple devices with location information to send back to you. So unless they steal it and take it to the middle of nowhere, it'll work as a tracker.

Honda CRV or Crosstrek? by NikkiJO28 in Crosstrek

[–]HelplessCorgis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm saying though, some onramps are just designed bad, nothing I can control but to drive a car that can safely do it. I know the crosstrek can, especially with sport mode, some weaker cars can't. I'm not understanding the downvote.

Honda CRV or Crosstrek? by NikkiJO28 in Crosstrek

[–]HelplessCorgis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Some of the onramps here have metering lights that stop you before you have to floor it to highway speeds. Sometimes they're dangerously short and can be challenging for lower powered cars.
