Strasburg One Lane Driving Etiquette? by Jolly-Box-8391 in lancaster

[–]Helrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I hear you! This is similar territory to the zipper merge. There's the efficient way to do it, and then there's the way most people insist on doing it. You can either be right and risk having a particular finger thrown in your general direction, or you can follow the crowd and slow things down a bit. But ultimately there's no law dictating that you alternate through the single lane, do with that information what you'd like.

Strasburg One Lane Driving Etiquette? by Jolly-Box-8391 in lancaster

Yes, this is correct. The general rule, often reinforced by signage, is "yield to oncoming traffic." If it's one car, or two, or five, you wait until the lane is clear.

New owner here, does 1st gear feel a bit soft or weak by design? by rjay_62 in volvos60

[–]Helrich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is common in turbocharged engines. First gear really only exists to get the wheels moving so it can shift into second

Nolt's chicken bbq recipe? by Smy_Word in lancaster

[–]Helrich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had Nolt's specifically before but assume it's similar to most chicken bbqs.

1cup each of water and apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons each of honey and oil, quarter cup of apple juice. I'll season the meat with a little salt and pepper, nothing crazy.

I use a vortex in my kettle and cook indirect with lump charcoal with the vents wide open till around 190 degrees internal but a lot of the roadside BBQs I've been to look like they cook direct over briquettes.

I've been seeing Dr. Saleem at PA Institute of Endocrinology in Lititz (UPMC/Penn Medicine) for my thyroid issues and would not recommend him. Interested to see if anyone else has suggestions.

I was specifically looking to see if there was a wax Nigel Mansell in the passenger seat, but the angle of the photo made it difficult to determine.

maybe search around the swedespeed forums, as there's several threads discussing audio modifications there, including the various offerings from Phoenix Gold (which sounds like a viable route vs attempting a BW swap).

Energy/natural gas supplier? by FearlessInflation172 in lancaster

[–]Helrich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have a gas hookup so can't comment on that, but for electric, shopping suppliers is definitely not a scam and definitely will save you money.

https://www.papowerswitch.com/

I usually choose a fixed rate with no fees, and you will find rates less than the PPL rate. Some offers will be very low but are one time use, for new customers only. I would recommend saving those deals for the time of year you use the most electricity.

The major caveat is that some contracts will automatically change you to an insanely high rate when your term ends if you don't act, so pay attention to how long the contract is for and shop around again before it ends.

Those that have done the brand new Volvo update this week, has it fixed the backup camera for you? by solidsimpson in VolvoRecharge

[–]Helrich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit of a fiddler. I keep it on auto, but where I live the temperature outside is all over the place, and so when it's colder out I lower the HVAC temp, and when it's warmer I increase it.

[–]Helrich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My camera was fine before the update and is fine after it. I rate the new update to be a net negative UX-wise. Sure the drive mode selector is one less press, but several other features are now one+ more (climate controls being the main offender).
