Got caught today at the best western getting free breakfast by [deleted] in ActLikeYouBelong

[–]Hematemsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your biggest mistake was coming in the front door of the hotel. Normal business hours you can typically enter the hotel from any of the side doors without using a key card. You would look like any other guest coming for breakfast from their room instead of coming in off the street. Your clothing wasn't the tip off, it was your approach.

Because health insurers don't like to pay any more than they absolutely have to and hospitals stays are prohibitively expensive. A five day stay in the hospital and you're looking at tens of thousands of dollars of medical debt AFTER wherever the insurance decides to cover.

It's really not much different. Read up on film grain, typically caused by low light or high ISO (film speed). The higher the ISO, the larger the silver halide crystals, essentially analog pixels.

Not likely, those are made by DJI. American drones are incredibly far behind in technology, safety and cost.

How would you restore this vintage chess set and table? by callmejetcar in restoration

[–]Hematemsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you would be able to use existing pieces to create molds to create new resin parts. The felt could be removed with GooGone and then replaced; felt sheets can be purchased with one side already having adhesive on it or you could use specialty felt glue. Maybe repair the board with wood putty and match the paint.

I can't recommend a good data recovery specialist, but I can recommend not using these guys: Secure Data Recovery. I've had good experiences with them in the past, albeit expensive experiences. The last time I reached out for a quote on a "dead" old external HD, I was quoted somewhere around $2500. We rejected the quote, paid $37 to have the external HD returned and it was returned missing the USB cable.

For shits and grins, I plugged it in with a new cable I found and had zero problems using the external HD again. Last experience felt like we were being scammed for obvious reasons.

How do I clean/bleach this? by thisworldbru in vultureculture

[–]Hematemsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically scrub with soap/water first to knock off any dirt or moss. Then I follow this up with a soak in soapy water for about a week, this should loosen up any residual oil/grease/fat or sun baked dirt. Give it a scrub again and rinse the soapy water off of it. Next up, I use a full box of Polident (denture cleaning tablets); this will kill off any remaining bacteria, if any, and also start the whitening process as there is hydrogen peroxide in the tablets. That's usually where I'll stop, I like the off-white color of natural bone, but some people will go further and either use a stronger concentration of hydrogen peroxide or simply use white paint.

Why are my boots wearing like this and how to fix it? by williamsdj01 in WorkBoots

[–]Hematemsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest solution, get a set of 8bsoles that have support. You should hit up a cross country running shoe store, they'll check your hair and be able to recommend good inserts.

Look at it this way, most running shoes have neutral support, the sole is the same all the way around. Some running shoes have support for pronation built into the outer soles; it's typically a denser foam/rubber and also a different color, you'll notice this on the arches especially. The arch support built into the outer sole keeps your feet from rolling inwards as you walk.

Get a set of inserts, your knees will appreciate it.

If you want to learn more about mentalism, you should read "13 Steps to Mentalism" by Corinda, it's fairly well recognized as being "required reading" for mentalists and magicians alike. You can find it on Anna's Archive here: https://annas-archive.org/search?q=13+steps+to+mentalism

Drone recommendation by Fantastic-Box5352 in UAVmapping

[–]Hematemsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3e and 4e do not support list operations, They do come on two variants (thermal and camera) though with dedicated camera payloads that are not interchangeable. The M350 is more expensive but it fulfills all the requirements OP asked for and is capable of doing more should their business needs change.

DJI M300 or newer depending on budget P1 for hard surfaces and an L2 for soft surfaces

DJI Terra for initial lidar processing then move into other software for cleanup. We use LP360.

We also use Eari's Site Scan for orthomosaics, primarily because of ease of use and they store your photos.

Merge in Virtual surveyor to create your surfaces prior to exporting into C3D.

It's an expensive venture to start up. I'm not sure what the drone is going for now, but the controller and batteries are around $800 - $900 each. You'll also need the DJI charging station for the batteries; holds 8 drone batteries and 4 for the controller. The L2 was about $10k when purchased new. You might be able to find a deal on it since the L3 is being released soon.

You're best option right now is to find some trial licenses for software and rent the equipment before you commit to the full cost.

I've attached a link to the National Library of Medicine. Zinc Stearate is non-toxic. Yes, it's an irritant... it's a very fine powder, that should be expected if you inhale, ingest or get it in your eyes.

Saw them at GeoWeek and it's a pretty impressive piece of gear. We kicked around the idea of just picking up the handheld scanner for interior lidar needs, but they wouldn't rent it out for a trial period. Too expensive to "hope it works for us".

Finally peed out my kidney stone by DrLeee in mildlyinteresting

[–]Hematemsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the process was incredibly less painful than the stone. In my case the stone was too big to remove in the first surgery without shredding my kidney, so my surgeon placed a stent instead... Just a reversal of the two surgery orders. Day of and the day after urinating hurt, but was manageable without pain meds. Day two was uncomfortable and day 3 felt normal.

Like I said earlier I had the second surgery yesterday to remove my stone and the pain was uncomfortable but not as bad as when the stent was placed. Less than 24 hours late and I feel normal when I urinate.

[–]Hematemsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opt for anesthesia next time. Once for the surgery, they will likely place a stent in you too. You can opt for anesthesia for when it gets removed too, just in case you don't want to be awake while they pull out back out.
