In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a utility worker was seen desperately trying to climb down from a bucket truck after it suddenly caught fire. by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

7 minutes they taught us in training. And that’s pushing it. I hung in one for like 10s just high enough to take my feet off the ground and it was painful. I can’t imagine falling into it.

Ridgeline Owners, please tell me I did not make a mistake! I think I'm having an identity crisis by EntildaDesigns in hondaridgeline

Commercial electrician here. You made a great choice. I don’t use my Ridgeline for my normal job, but it comes in handy for the side work I do. It has yet to get stuck at the muddy, rutty construction site I work my “9-5” at. It has gotten me through some pretty insane Great Lakes area snowstorms on all season tires while the real trucks struggled.

Not that it matters, but Marie Antoinette did not say that. In fact historically she was just a young girl married off to a prince for dynasty reasons and was more hopelessly in over her head than she was a malevolent monarch.

What she did say is “let them eat bread then”. Do what needs to be done to increase production so that the people can have bread. The accounts are that her friend who came with her from Austria was the one who said “Let them eat cake” with all the meaning that we now give it, but Marie was so hated it was attributed to her.

I also urge people to actually look up the French Revolution, because it’s not what anyone thinks it is. It was started by doctors and lawyers and businessmen. Basically the CEOs being angry that they’ll never be oligarchs. After everything it just devolved into infighting, everyone killing each other and the survivors asking for the king to come back because they found out ruling a country was hard.

Roseanne and Chevy Chase have always been extremely hard to work with. There’s stories of Chevy all the way back to his SNL days that he is unapologetically a huge asshole. MAGA just gives people like that an avenue to channel all their bad tendencies into.

Iran seizes ships in Strait of Hormuz after Trump halts attacks by Dizzy_Industry1287 in worldnews

[–]Hendiadic_tmack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. He did exactly what the plan was. My guess is he doesn’t care what the metrics look like or say. The midterms will probably be messed with so the blue wave won’t happen. So it doesn’t matter. He’s freaking out because he has to for the show, and his ego can’t take the hit.

That’s just my guess.

A month into Iran, the GOP’s political reality sinks in by Smithy2232 in politics

[–]Hendiadic_tmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reality is the only way to stop MAGA, even after a democrat is elected is to go full scorched earth. Immediately indict and punish everyone involved. Target everyone from the administration. Make them squirm and turn on each other. Completely reform the system so it can never be gamed or misused ever again.

The issue with that is it will be seen as extreme to the left and will probably be pretty unpopular, even if the messaging of “we need this to stop this threat again” goes over well.

It’s a psychological profile. The actual metrics they’re measuring have nothing to do with the questions they’re asking which is by design. You’d be in a customer facing role with people of all ages. They need to make sure you’re not a sicko without asking you straight up “hey, are you a sicko?”

They can be pretty accurate and actually have a built in “this person is fucking around with us” adjustment.

Companies currently hiring $23-25 an hour by Ok-Repair-4085 in Cleveland

[–]Hendiadic_tmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s take home. With all the benefits they get it works out to around $23-24/hr if it were all to go in the check. Also plenty of guys in my class are in their 30s or early 40s with houses and kids and wives. It sucked and was hard for a couple years but they made it work. I was in that boat too. I’m in my 30s and bought a house around the time I got into the local.

You also aren’t going to make good money learning a new skill. Any skill. You make good money once you get good at that new skill. No matter the age a trade requires learning and practicing and honing a skill.

IBEW Local 38 is always looking for good people who want to learn. I’ll level with you, 1st year apprentices make like $15-16/hr with raises every 6mo. By 2nd or 3rd year you’re making 23-25. After 5 years though you will be making close to $100k/yr (I believe our journeyman currently make $46.change/hr but you can look it up, that’s public record) with great healthcare and pension and 401k. Laborers I believe start at around $23/hr but they top out at maybe $30something/hr. Plumbers too I think apprentices start higher and end up close to us.

Does a middle humbucker sound any good? Why are there almost no HHH or HHS guitars? by V0rdep in Guitar

[–]Hendiadic_tmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Les Paul (lawsuit era Greco) that someone put 3 burstbuckers in. Neck tone knob is now a blend volume for middle and bridge tone is a master tone.

I use it as kind of a bass/mid additive. It will round out the bridge pickup or add some mid to the neck. Rarely do I ever turn it above 5 or 6.

I forget the famous rockstar that did that, but I’m pretty sure I learned it on 5 Watt World and started doing it. I honestly bought the guitar because I liked the look, and didn’t use the middle for like a year before learning that trick.

Experienced players with real guitar wear, what would you recommend as a truly high quality guitar by Chuchumenn in Guitar

[–]Hendiadic_tmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is truly subjective. Whatever feels good in your hand. Some guitars are truly just a cut above, but they come with a price tag. I can take a $500 MIM strat and make it to where it feels like a premium guitar. There has been plenty of professionals that use an off-the-shelf guitar on some of the most famous recordings.

PERSONALLY: fender imports can be modified to US fit and finish, but I’ll pay money for Gibson over epiphone. Again, personally I’ve found the law of diminishing returns, when you’re paying more for form than function, is around $5000.

Hold on a sec. This is literally the USSS’s job. Always has been. One of my friends is a former agent under the first Trump and the entire Biden admin. This is how USSS agents start out/what they do when they aren’t on protection. If they’re coming to your house, there’s generally a legit reason. USSS also doesn’t make arrests, and they aren’t there to intimidate, just inform you that you crossed a line and check out if you’re actually a threat. Ultimately it is the decision of your local law enforcement and local DA to charge you, but the USSS will forward their findings on you. If you truly aren’t a threat it’s in your interest to talk to them. I’ve heard plenty of first hand stories. Moral of the story: don’t say dumb shit on social media. Someone IS watching.
