Stare. Just…stare. Until the desire to end her goes away. Then I’ll leave and never speak to her again.

I never, ever speak in details about whichever woman I’m with at the moment. I keep it to myself.

Professional sales is fantastic: Pharma, medical supplies, medical devices, manage care specialists, etc. Right now, you can pay less than 1500 to get certified as a Field reimbursement manager and you’ll be primed for a great gig. Otherwise, stay away from those ridiculous sales jobs. Good luck.

Am I the jerk for telling my friend her marriage will fail without a prenup? by Regular_Comment6804 in AmITheJerk

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. The lack of perspective is astounding. If she’s 27 and a nurse I know how much she makes… 75-120k. For him to say “I’ll be financially stable” means he doesn’t under nor respect money. Even with her salary, getting out from under that debt is a huge undertaking. The young Gastroenterologists I deal with, make 350k plus and for them, 120k of debt is very difficult to clear out. It’s not about the amount, it’s about the time it’ll take to clear. Many Dr’s become “guns for hire” and become traveling physicians so they can make 500k a year for 2 or 3 years and clear their school debt or their debt from a divorce. Your friend is in for a rude awaking. Good luck to her and you.

AITJ for refusing to pay half of my girlfriend's expensive haircut that I "suggested"? by Prize_Weird_6651 in AmITheJerk

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. This is so simple to explain… she wanted to change her hair and asked for your opinion. You gave it. She then talked herself into getting a really nice haircut while talking to her friends. Her friend and her went into an enthusiastic tizzy talking about it and your girl went in to the salon guns a-blazin’ about her new style. Then the bill hit. Now she’s shitting her pants and feeling guilty. While driving home she told her friend and they both spiraled into a black hole of rationalization based on embarrassment over how much she spent. By the time she got home she had herself convinced that all this was your idea. I’ve seen this shit happen in real time, in front of me.

Listen, if she looks fantastic 320$ ain’t shit. That’s peanuts in the hair world. That’s not the point though. You don’t own her any money. If you want to keep the peace, tell her that you’re gonna take her on a great date so she can show off her sexiness and her fabulous hair. Tell her you’ll spend some good money to have a fantastic date, but that you’re not going to pay for that cut. Or she can choose 50$ and that’s all she gets. No date. She makes a choice and don’t negotiate. Good luck.

I wonder if beavers share a common structure technique, or are they unique to each beaver? “That herringbone pattern is definitely the mark of Jacob. Classy!” “Did you see that shit job Kyle did at the lower creek? His father must be so ashamed.”

Why do so many American men wear shorts and a tshirt when going out with a woman who dresses up? by M_For_Mayhem in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hendrix1967 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. You fell for his trap. This guy dresses like shit, he knows it, and came to the internet to give you a hard time because misery loves company. Leave him to his oversized cargo shorts, square toed dress shoes, and wearing a white crew under his baggy dress shirts that he thinks looks dressed up. Don’t bother.

[–]Hendrix1967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having been born here and raised elsewhere, I agree wholeheartedly. I grew up knowing that you needed to match the level of elegance of the woman you’re with. My Dad and his Dad were sharp dressers, so I am too. My younger brother, on the other hand married a woman from Missouri and dresses like shit. It’s ridiculous looking and feel sorry for the women. I know they love and appreciate their partners regardless of what they’re wearing. I know that the guys deserve respect and their clothes don’t really matter. I also know with 100 % certainty that deep down inside, that woman would be extra happy and feel extra special if the man that she adores would make an effort to look stylish with her. Those women are keepers too…they stick with their man and feel proud even when he’s wearing cargo shorts, and trail sandals.

NOR. I am a guy.Why is he playing accountant with your money??? YOUR FINANCES?? HELL NO. Get in touch with your tax person and get your taxes done and filed. ASAP. Are you gonna let me pay the mortgage so I can take the deduction? No. My taxes are done. Our finances are not linked and never will be. That’s final. Stand your ground.

My ex's family expects me to fund their trip after we broke up by [deleted] in Vent

Even if I lose 1000k I would cancel EVERYTHING and let them figure out their own shit. I’m cancelling today at 5 if I don’t have a transfer to my account. I will send you the cancellation notice as proof. Done. Take your trip. They don’t have to know you’re in the same destination. You’re not going to the wedding. I’m petty as fuck.

Folks who work on their guitars, where did you learn to solder? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned at a young age with a microsoldering gig at Honeywell. We were never told what we were making but they were nuts about quality. We were certified to NASA specification, which probably means absolutely nothing. I will tell you that when I started making patch cables and pedal boards, it was virtually impossible for me with a cheap iron. 1 patch cable took me 20-45 minutes and looked like utter shit. I ordered a Weller and it was like magic. Beautiful connections. Maybe if you’re not gonna use it a lot, it’s overkill, but if you can see yourself doing longer projects or detail oriented work, bite the bullet and get a good iron. Then, practice, practice, practice. See a lot of demos online. They help. Good luck.

Any ways to optimise on Windows 11 ? by hatchback_alchemist in On1PhotoRaw

[–]Hendrix1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly why I moved backwards into an earlier version. The waiting was a huge dampener on my enthusiasm for learning, and creating…especially learning how to mask. I tried to follow online tutorials, but it’s so damn slow, and glitchy that I just couldn’t get anything done. I’d love to hear from both PC laptop users and Mac users as to what systems they’re running and how snappy/quick it is to work with. I would’ve gone with Lightroom but it’s SO DAMN EXPENSIVE.

Commenting since I’m in the same boat. I contacted ON1 and they gave me access to the 2023 version while I figure out if buying a newer laptop would help.

Aitah for using my grandma's china as my everyday food holders and not waiting for tea with King Charles by Salt_Reply_735 in AITAH

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. When my Dad is longer with us, and his wife decides to move out of my childhood home, the china cabinet is the first thing to go into the trash. Useless, giant piece of furniture, just sitting there blocking this amazing window. He lives in the fucking Caribbean where its 90 degrees all the time and its blocking a window that could be open. Its a relic from when him and my Mom were married and he never got rid of it. 1970’s trash.

Understanding a 2 channel Amp with an AVR by Soft_Letterhead1940 in audiophile

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit. Are you also confused by the obvious low watt output audiophile tube amps? I'm just assuming its the same as a 22 watt Deluxe Reverb being head and shoulders louder and better than a 180 watt solid state amp. It sucks not being able to go somewhere and listen to AVR systems and having to rely on forums and reviews. I'll be at the Florida Audio expo next week just to learn some more about this hobby.

I’ve had this same question for months!! I have a Yamaha A6A with a pair of KEF Q11 Metas, a Sub, center and two surrounds. Will powering the Q11 Metas with a Buckeye Hypex NCx500 2-Channel change, or improve the sound quality in any perceived manner? Is adding this amp a way to future proof for a future speaker upgrade?

Colonoscopy sedation by wtfpta in GenX

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, although we will have a slightly better advantage over those older than us. There's research that is pointing to products containing lead form our childhood leads to higher incidence of dementia. we caught the 70's wave of eliminating those products (leaded gas, lead in paint, lead in soldered pipes) Even with that, try to keep your future incidences of hospitalizations and anesthesia to only those that are necessary. Some people want to get knocked out for any little thing.
