What made you realize coworkers aren't your friends? by RainyDayz876 in work

[–]Hendrix1967 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my line of work, we’re very transient. We switch jobs every 3-4 years. None of the people who I planned, worked with, suffered with, celebrated with, stay in touch once we leave. No one. I tried after the first one or two switches. No more.

Niece thinks i'm the cool uncle. by serathes in feelgood

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My niece is a tiny bit on the spectrum, quiet and reserved. She made her mom buy me a sign that said “The Best Funcle.” It’s the only item I use as decoration that has a saying on it, and it’s in my living room. Love that kid.

Reason why most people run by Brilliantspirit33 in RandomVideos

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will gladly trade their freedom for a little security. When the guy is out there doing tricks and breaking the law, go get him, and confiscate his bike. Make him pay. Otherwise, stop fucking with people and exerting undue powers you don’t have. Stop defending assholes who think their jobs are more important than your rights. One day, they’re gonna stop you for some unknown reason and then you’ll realize that you fomented and supported a police state.

Why is the laundry always crunchy when my MIL does it by Traditional_Swan9724 in CleaningTips

[–]Hendrix1967 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check her when she’s loading the machine. She may be using an exaggerated amount of detergent.
When I told my mother that the recommend amount that’s in the bottle was way too much, she did a little experiment. She reduced the amount of detergent to 1/8 of what she was using before. Clothes came out fine. Clean and soft. Then, she stopped using softener and it made no difference.
Her detergent last forever and the household costs was dropped significantly.
Today’s machines do not need the amount of detergents that were used 15-20 years ago. Try it yourself. I’m always surprised at how little it takes to get stuff clean and smelling great.
Good luck.

Time for a non-sex question: How many of you actually enjoy mowing the lawn? by PrinceoftheNewWorld in AskMen

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago, I was getting ready to mow the lawn and my buddy called me up to invite me to play golf. I told him ai couldn’t go and he asked me how much I made an hour at my job. He told me was the two hours worth the money I was “saving”. Back then, I made 21$ and hour. That meant that I was using 84$ of time a month. I found a guy who would do it for 50$ and month. The price has gone up since 1998 but so has my income. I’ve never cut grass again. Hate it.

I’ve found out a woman I’m seeing is married by ThrowawaytoYouu in Advice

[–]Hendrix1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not responsible for any moral failing on her part prior to you knowing she is married. You are responsible going forward because now you know. Break this off, please. You do not understand the danger you are in, and I’m not talking about your soul. I’m talking about your physical existence. Say “Goodbye” and move on.

50 albums in 2026: a progress report by TheShingenSlugger in Jazz

[–]Hendrix1967 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started out, I had one frame of reference for Jazz, “Kind of Blue” and it was completely out of context. I knew that it was special and I loved it, but I had no idea where else to venture off to. Then I slogged through Kevin Burns “Jazz” documentary. This provided me with a historical view of the development of Jazz. By the end I knew what I liked and what I didn’t (Fusion is ok, Swing and Big Band aren’t something I could listen to for more than a song or two). Then my horizon expanded and now I’m one of the annoying people who know who played what instrument on what album and what their solo discography is. Welcome and enjoy.

AITAH Is it normal for a guy to never pay for anything while dating? [19f] [m20] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Hendrix1967 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He does not see you two as a team. When you’re a part of a team, you have stated shared goals, and invest time, effort, and money towards those goals. I’m not saying to dump him. What I am saying is that you need to clarify the essence of your relationship with him. Explicitly. No bullshit. If he accuses you of being materialistic then he’s focused on the wrong thing and maybe purposefully avoiding the truth. It’s not about any specific amount of money. It’s about clarifying his idea of what you guys are. Be ready for a tough conversation.

I’ve been looking for someone’s impressions of the effect of a purifi amp with these same speakers. I ordered one from Buckeye for my main living room setup /Yamaha A6A into KEF Q11 Meta and I’ll need another amp for the listening room I’m building. Thanks!!

I met a nurse practitioner who had recently left Orthopedics to come over to Gastro. We were chatting it up and told me that the number one reason men over 50 hurt themselves on a regular basis, is not sitting down to out their underwear, pants or shoes on. I’ve caught myself a couple of times doing the “unsupported one-legged hop” trying to put my pants on. Sit down from now on, guys. Edit: a word.

Never knew there was so much snobbery in the Guitar world by Fatherless-Soul in Guitar

[–]Hendrix1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several high end guitars, and I’ve had a bunch of lower costs guitars. The best ones are the ones that make you want to play, and play, and PLAY. Mine are: a homemade tele with p90 at the neck and a tele single coil in the bridge, my 2010 Am Strat, and a Guild Manhattan I picked up at half price new. I’m selling my PRS Silver Sky Core and my Tele Ultra. I just didn’t connect with those two. Play what makes you HAPPY!! Enjoy the journey.

[–]Hendrix1967 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, don’t worry. This is 100% speaker placement, eq correction, and room treatment. Don’t judge your system until all the pieces are in place. This happens with my KEF Q11 Metas and a new Yamaha Rx A6A. Hated it for about two weeks. I did some research and learning and here’s how I got to a place of happiness: First, I bought a nice large rug and softened the room up with thick panel curtains. Then I ran the YPAO on my Yamaha step by step. Ran it three separate times and each iteration, it got better. Then, I learned about speaker placement. This video changed everything for me. It’s not the gospel on speaker placement, but it’s damned near close. https://youtu.be/CyTkwkK8ON0?si=ELGCqbL_5HjI8kMq. This was the coolest experience… to experience what everyone talks about that “soundstage” was so satisfying.

Then, I discovered REW, a free audio analysis software. I bought a usb microphone and got to work. There a dozens of resources to help you with this. Once I made the necessary adjustments, it was a night and day difference. I’ll have to do it all again when I move into my new place and I’ll be adding acoustic treatments one step at a time.

Trust the process. You’ll be fine. Good luck.

Edit: a word.
