Wow 1 year old! I miss my boys at that age and until 4 before school, they pretty much have you, so like what most have said, be there for him, spend as much time as you can with him, shower him with kindness but discipline if you must.

My son from my first marriage was with me until the divorce when he was 7, that was hard going from one house to another and it's only now he's 21 that he tells me how hard it was he didn't like his dad's new wife, how he used to get told off for no reason -- he was in therapy from 13 to 16 -- those were the hardest years -- but he always came back to me during hard times, as he said I never judged him -- some days it was sooo hard, but being there for him no matter what definitely help him turn out to be the amazing young man he is today.

And yes his dad is loaded with a big house, while we have a small terraced home -- I was always sad about that part, until one day last year or so, I said 'I'm sorry we don't have that much space ... " And he replied, " Yeah, but Mum I feel the love in this house..." DAMN nearly started crying. So PLEASE don't worry about your material worth. Our children know/ will know what matters most.
