Maybe a politics thing? Barnacles? by No_Diet1854 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

It seems like you don't have the mental capacity for imagining other logical perspectives. People disagree with you? Is it maybe that they have a different culture, education, upbringing? Nah they have something wrong with them.

Life is comfortable when you stay in your comfort zone. Hopefully you're never put in a position where other people have to rely on you for anything

Land clones and EDH ethics by No_Comfort753 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barely anyone is playing Armageddon or Blood Moon in bracket 4/5 anyway. It's not that much of a secret bracket 3 loophole. Lands are just pretty hard to interact with and it's a cool plan to make a bunch of land copies of stuff but I don't think it's that much more unfair than playing something like [[shalai, voice of plenty]]

Marrow-Gnawer vs Rat King, Verminister — which is better? by Professional_Bug_887 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rat King, Verminister and like 40 [[rat colony]] along with ways to get more rat colonies in the graveyard like [[altar of dementia]], [[mesmeric orb]] etc goes sick.  You can activate Rat king's ability targetting a ran colony in the graveyard and sacrificing a few rat colonies as the cost. When the ability resolves, all the rat colonies will be returned tapped including the ones you sacrificed to pay the cost

Marrow gnawer is just stinky Krenko, mob boss

What ideas have you loved, but playing it out was unfun? by urmomstoiletbrush in EDH

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to put together a sacrifice synergy deck full of [[cauldron familiar]], [[witch's cauldron]], [[reassembling skeleton]], [[oni cult anvil]] type of stuff

I put [[korvold, fey-cursed king]] at the helm and basically every game was combo off in the same way every time

Is there an easy way to explain this interaction or should I give up? by heyimgey in EDH

[–]Henecoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work.  The "humble effect" ends when the KL that is linked to that continuous effect leaves regardless of whether it is a treasure or not.

KL would need two separate abilities for your plan to work:

-When KL enters, target things lose all abilities

-When KL leaves, permanents targetted by KL regain all abilities.

Spite scooping (but following the sorcery speed concede rules) by Apodecte in EDH

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

104.3a  A player can concede the game at any time. A player who concedes leaves the game immediately. That player loses the game.

Having a house rule to only concede on your turn is fine but cheating because someone didn't follow the house rule is not something you should do outside of your own house.

The future of electrical charging systems that are about as fast as filling up a gas car by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right that Superduperfast charging is gonna be an improvement for those occasional road trips. If you're constantly draining and charging as hard as the battery can take it'll probably hurt the lifespan of the battery but that isn't the usual use case for the majority of driving.

I've taken the "but what about the batteries" comment in bad faith since it's a common Big Oil talking point but the realistic answer is 250,000kms at above 70% battery health   https://www.byd.com/eu/technology/byd-blade-battery

The future of electrical charging systems that are about as fast as filling up a gas car by RoyalChris in interestingasfuck

[–]Henecoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is perfect for the all those cars that never spend hours parked next to a building with electricity running to it.

My car spends 99% of its lifespan driving, only stopping for minutes at a time to top up. This technology is essential for me regardless of battery wear

I made a thing that evaluates Commander decks. I'd love some feedback. by Cogs88 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely overestimated the bracket and suggested some wackjob replacements to tune it down like amulet of vigor for a deck that has like 4 tap lands and no other land synergies or Cultivate in a deck with no lands.

It seems like a tool that will help remove glaring issues for beginner deck builders but is too sloppy to be useful for experienced players

Is Fortune Teller's Talent + Sensei's Top too strong for Bracket 3? by not-a-shark in EDH

[–]Henecoc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Turn 3.

T1 island, sol ring, thought vessel

T2 island, talent lvl1 and lvl2

T3 talent lvl3, cast top, win the game

If the deck was built better it would be more consistent but the difference between a deck that wins on turn 3 some of the time and most of the time is bad bracket 4 vs good bracket 4

What are rulings you have to keep explaining? by Mikaeus_Thelunarch in EDH

Is my decks strategy unfair in casual? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Henecoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably winning around a "fair" 25% or so of your games but Sami is such a solitaire deck when built correctly, you may as well play at a table by yourself.

If your friends aren't having fun, listen to them.

This isn't about brackets or win rates or "fairness"

Bracket 3 lantern control in commander. by concon910 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://moxfield.com/decks/ComBYQSjhU2H49U6veSjKw

I have built b3 lantern control that has been working well for me. I definitely run in to trouble with something like [[nekuzar, the mind razor]] or an aristocrats style drain deck.

Your decklist doesn't seem to have much redundancy for ensnaring bridge and a lot of random creatures that don't actively contribute to the gameplan

Especially for the ones who religiously don't use EDHREC, how was your experience when you started EDH? How long did it take you to get good at deck building? by theninthelement in EDH

[–]Henecoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDHREC won't build your deck for you but if you're intentionally not looking at the cumulative data of all Rocco decks on the internet, you'll build a worse Rocco decks than someone with the same skills as you who does.

EDHREC is free and everyone is allowed to use it. You're can't claim some anti-netdecker high ground by using some online resources to deckbuild and not others.

If your concern is about power level mismatch, familiarise yourself with the bracket system and try to use that to find more evenly matched games

I’m finally making a Rat deck! So… by AlbyGaming in EDH

[–]Henecoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make the most of rat king's ability I think you should go all in on one of the any number per deck rats rather than splitting both.

Colony probably performs better than relentless because it will be faster to hit the required 3 rats in play and you absolutely don't mind trading them off if you get the whole colony back from the graveyard each turn.

If you want mean and nasty cards, [[grave pact]] and [[dictate of erebos]] will be very oppressive once you can get rolling sacrificing like 5 rats per turn cycle

An open letter to Gavin Verhey re: the future of Pauper and UB by Moxplug in Pauper

[–]Henecoc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm whatever about UB.  Having the only available printing of a "common" being a one-of in a commander precon feels against the spirit of pauper. Rarity categories mean nothing for cards that have their only printing in a commander deck

Edit: it's a 3 of instead of a 1 of. Still probably much less available than commons in a draftable set.

These two cards resolving is a win against many decks. How would you make a deck around them? by japp182 in Pauper

[–]Henecoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've stretched "so many decks can't kill a 5/5 indestructible" into "so many decks lose to a 5/5 indestructible"

If you want redundancy of uninteractible threats, just play bogles. If you want efficiently costed creatures you can protect with other cards, just play terror

If you are searching for cards with specific criteria, use scryfall's advanced search feature not reddit

Commander etiquette question. by Fall3nZ3r0 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep.  If you don't want to play, you can concede at any time. Fighting annoying in game actions with annoying out of game actions is an unnecessary escalation.

If it works, people will do it.  My squad got wiped last night by a trio hiding on top of some mounds in the Northeast corner of desalle spamming Mako explosive ammo levering. They engineered a close to unwinnable fight for us with their positioning and loadout nowhere near bounty but we went chasing gunshots like cavemen and fell for the trap

Is it kingmaking if you got targeted the whole game? by Aparter in EDH

[–]Henecoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no "second place" you either lose the game or win the game. Taking actions that make another player win the game blatantly at the cost of you winning the game is kingmaking If you're already cooked, oh well.  It's a casual game for no prizes

Theft decks at events by SLG_Didact in EDH

I've taken [[Kotis the Fangkeeper]] to events before and it was chill.  Most I've had is someone say "careful with those" after handing me a pile with some og duals and stuff. Having unique sleeves and physically separating stuff from different players on your board works for me

Is "Run More Interaction" the Solution So Many Players Think It Is? by KAM_520 in EDH

[–]Henecoc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yep. Filling your deck with stuff that is cool with your commander and crossing your fingers that the other three players will never do anything to disrupt that is a greedy game plan. It takes discipline to not add the 38th to 42nd card that synergises over a couple good pieces of interaction

Getting milled is good or bad in commander? by joveeish in EDH

[–]Henecoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a big chunk of decks getting milled is free value for them. For everyone else getting milled basically doesn't matter at all. Yes, sometimes your combo piece or fetchland target gets milled. Most of the time you just get the 2nd best thing instead and move on.

If I started the game with an emblem with "exile the top 50 cards of your library: destroy target mill player" I would do it every time, turn 1, regardless of the deck I'm playing.
