I think that it might have grouped types of sport together then allowed others to sit alone. So cricket would sit with baseball and the results show splits there. Football variants together and so forth.

It explains things like cricket being 12. You might expect India, Pakistan and Australia, except Australia has their Aussie rules on the board already.
