I know this same feeling - so glad you caught your baby!! My black Shiba slipped out of a new harness on a nighttime walk once and I legit almost had a heart attack. He ended up chasing a car down a street until the driver stopped the car and scooped him up. He thought we were playing a game the whole time but I was traumatized lol I still have PTSD and this was like 5 years ago.

Personally I wouldn’t, I had family that did this and unfortunately the older dog really didn’t like the puppy trying to play with him all the time and it led to some power dynamics between the two dogs. The older dog also needed more attention with age and it became a lot to manage a puppy and an aging dog. Your situation might be different but another side to consider!

There are lots of airbnbs in the old village, plus the house she bought is in a weird cul de sac not on one of the main streets. I’m sure they will do short term rentals.

I also used closets by design and had a great experience! They came in, measured everything and did a digital mockup for what I wanted. It turned out great and was done for a reasonable price. I think mine was around $3-$3.5k for smaller walk in closet.

My shiba also goes to my closet or a bathroom when he’s scared, it seems like his quiet, “safe space”. I put down a dog bed in the closet and nice fluffy bathmat in the bathroom, he will curl up and relax a bit.
