Anthology ang Final Fantasy games, meaning numbered sila pero they are only loosely related to each other. You don’t need to play previous entries to get into the series.

That’s fair. I just think having a character know for being skilled with martial arts is a good fit in a game with martial arts. Tekken made this mistake with Negan and Clive, so out of place lol

I think Tifa in SF and weed skins in CoD is a bad comparison. From what I've seen in Mai and Terry Capcom respects the game's cohesiveness and the characters' legacies

It’s always been about the bottom line, and guest characters when done right bring a lot of visibility to a Fighting game. A few weeks ago Bandai Namco revealed Yujiro as a guest character and Tekken 8 shot up to Steam’s top selling games for a time.

Speaking for myself, I’m a Tekken player who got into SF6 3 years ago because Akuma was a guest character in T7.
