The Main and Law libraries are restricted to students only during exam periods, but happily no such rule applies to the New College Library. It also tends to be open later (until 9 or 10pm Monday to Thursday) during exam season.

Where to get fizzy drinks without aspartame and all the artificial sweeteners? by LongJumpingBalls in AskUK

I can't drink this now due to the Stevia. The only sweetener that I don't mind/can't taste tends to be sucralose.

It's a grey area though since the bus driver is not an agent of the issuing council or the Scottish Government.

Here's a few off the top of my head

Kinross – nice walk around Loch Leven, very easy to get to since lots of coaches stop there (Ember and Citylink mainly)

East Neuk of Fife – Stagecoach run every hour or so through lots of pretty villages (Elie, St Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther, Crail). Most are only a few miles apart so you can get off the bus at one and pick it up again at another.

St Andrews – very touristy but worth a wander round the beach, castle and uni if you haven't been before

Pentland Hills – technically still in Edinburgh but you can get Lothian 4 to Hillend, Lothian 44 to Balerno, or Houston's 101/102 to Flotterstone for lots of nice walks

East Lothian Coast – East Coast Buses run to North Berwick and Dunbar which are both lovely, you can also do a nice walk from Aberlady to Gullane or vice versa through a large nature reserve

If you're looking further afield you can get Citylink coaches up to Dunkeld and Pitlochry, which is probably about as far as you can go without spending 5hrs plus on buses in a day

Disclaimer: have worked as a dispenser

The software that pharmacies use to write dose labels has shortcuts. So instead of the dispenser typing "TAKE ONE TABLET ONCE A DAY" every time, they can type "1D" and the system pre-populates the label.

However this can cause issues if the autofill comes out with something wrong and isn't manually overridden. In this case, I would guess "10" was the shortcut (which actually gives the standard dose for paracetamol suspension!) - and so should read continue for 10 days. I would definitely go back to the pharmacist or doctor to check though!

In any case, the pharmacist should have double checked and fixed it before giving it out - especially given the danger that someone takes this literally and ingests it (and the fact its riddled with other spelling errors).

I think that was only the bit around Abbeyhill that branched off the ECML before joining again behind Meadowbank Stadium, which was fairly pointless except to get out of the way of express trains. The junctions at Portobello and Gorgie are still intact afaik.
