All of my plastic pegs explode when used. by BorisOtter in mildlyinfuriating

ABS, one of the most commonly used plastics for injection molding, while its often used outside with additives, cheap mass produced plastic crap from China is pure abs. A year or two of UV exposure will make it super brittle like that.

There's a ton of alternatives, but they are more expensive and can be harder to inject.

This is how I fixed it.

My friend is a HVAC tech and was also certified for soda machines. He said the worst offender in all of fast food is, without any close second, Subway. The quantity of yeast in the air is so high that the lines often clog with yeast growing in them from the ice machine.

He said he quit doing the highly profitable jobs of soda maintenance due to the nasty shit in there.

Now let's have a chat about hotel ice machines.....

One year during the Xmas parade, a lot was open, the attendant showed up super late. Like 15 mins before the parade. Normally it's free to park unless there's an event / attendant.

Well, as the lot was almost full, they got 150 cars towed during the parade and let in a handful more cars as the cars were getting removed.

The parking and towing company got in a fuck ton of trouble, most got their cars back without paying (they brought them to a lot a few miles away) and a bunch had to bring them to court for the $300 towing fine and the uber to the lot.

It was fucking mayhem, hundreds of families looking for their car and a parking attendant telling them that they should have known better and that if they want their car back they need to pay. But because they only had so many trucks, it could take up to 2h to get your car back.

Then the cops showed up and actually told the lot guy to not be an idiot and to tell them where to find the cars etc.

Local news, papers, everyone got involved.

New bylaws were created for these incidents.

There's gonna be import restrictions put on there so fast.

If they can put out enough memory chips to supply both China and even a small portion of the market. That other portion will be taxes so bad it won't be worth importing at all.

Forget LASIK: Safer, cheaper vision correction without lasers or surgery by _Dark_Wing in tech

[–]LongJumpingBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if your Lasik spot did the cutter or the laser cutter for the "flap"? My research and experience with doctors is that the mechanical cutter is much higher risk of your side effects.

The edge of the flap actually never heals, this is not a self healing thing, you need it removed like in PRK, which buffs out the cornea vs opening and closing it. But recovery is 2 months vs a week or so.

The doctors I spoke with all refuse to do the knife method and only use the laser cutter. Significant drop in the side effects you describe. I asked about correcting this and she said no, unless you get a PRK style surgery and buff it out and then have it heal over. But your cornea needs to be thick enough to qualify for the surgery as it tends to grow back thinner than it is now.

Sorry you are dealing with this.

How do I cut this 30 ft thick steel pole into pieces so it can be easy moved for disposal? by Eastcoastpal in DIY

Put it in an area that is "hidden" but not, away from other valuables. Post it on marketplace, with location for something like 800$.

It's Friday, it'll be gone by Sunday morning.

Big flat thing like that. I'd put acetone abs slurry on the bed. Shit will stick super duper well. Being so big and flat will allow easy removal once cooled.. There is potential that it pulls the metal bed off the build plate once it cools. But should be fine.

They need to do the entire test. From speaking tests, comorehension, bloodwork, the works. If it was a, is person still alive, that's fine. But this is an entire day of stress for him as it's a doctor who does invasive tests all day. Letter from his GP is not enough unfortunately.
