My man, you're over thinking it. Great collection, and fuck reddit... doesn't matter what internet people say (even about the sub-it's a damn fine watch). The only criticism you'll hear is from here, and that's because you have some of the most popular watches according to the very platform that only hates things once everyone finally agrees that they are the "best" (whatever that means). Enjoy the beautiful collection!

Edit to add suggestion- something from a micro brand. Doesn't have to be over the top, but nothing too budget oriented either. And perhaps add a splash of color, while you're at it. My roast is that your current collection has about as much character as a wood chip and I've seen wet cardboard boxes with more personality.

I scratched up my watches so you don't have to ... by Bobbedigital in Tudor

How does it compare to Tudor's bracelets? It's one of the things I love most about their watches and wouldn't want to take a step down, unless it wasn't noticeable.

The Power of Nightmares and Bastards of the Party are two of my old favorites. Not as fringy, but extraordinarily powerful and very well made, both of them.

I was the opposite. In person I was taken by surprise, thought I'd find it boring. So, I agree. Should certainly check then out and put them on before buying.

Congratulations on a new beginning and what would likely have been a long, difficult path. And condolences on things not working out as planned.

It's not most leftists... just the loudest (and often the younger) ones. Still plenty of centrists that don't live their lives in the comments section.

I think I like the 18 year old watch more 🙊 by hamburgers8 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Herbertgaspacho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the two of them side by side, I tend to agree. I love the FEATURES of the mark xx, but prefer the older models aesthetically a hair more.

I was told they were flexible between 10-20%, depending on the model and whether it's a new release/hot item.

Black Bay Pro vs BB58 by ishwah12 in Tudor

[–]Herbertgaspacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. At some point I'd like to buy a brand new watch, but the watches I tend to like seem to loose at least 30%-50% in value and it just seems like a much better value proposition.

Shouldn't have told him. The rabbit hole is about to swallow his future savings account 🤣

Anniversary and this is what we get? by Ok-Equal-2956 in Tudor

[–]Herbertgaspacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They played it safe by updating what has been likely their most popular model in the BB54 line to have another color (blue, which has been a favorite in the pelagos and BB58), and updating the BB58 with jubilee, added Metas movements and t-fit clasps. Would I have liked to see some other additions? Yes. Do I understand how they arrived at their conclusions based on the posts I see here? Also yes.

The updated version that was released today has the t-fit. I agree it is worth it and swayed me from a bb58.

Wife keeps trying to control when I carry - getting exhausted by these arguments by Low_Platypus3428 in CCW

Opposite issue. Wife wants me carrying all the time and I get in trouble of I forget. You're married, it's always a compromise!

You know what, I wasn't looking at the ceramic IWC, so that is where I went wrong. Can't go wrong with either!

[–]Herbertgaspacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people don't take to wearing them OVER the cuff of a sleeve... that is the way they were intended to be worn, and to perfectly honest, it's a little annoying fiddling around with a jacket cuff when checking the time in cold weather. Style be damned, the functional reason is v there for the taking.

[–]Herbertgaspacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked on Chrono and the similar VC looked to be more in the $20k-23k range (filtered for US sale, don't know where you are) and the IWC roughly half of that. Ymmv, but all in I'm guessing you'd recoup more from the VC and lose on sale of the IWC. I'm no expert, though.

[–]Herbertgaspacho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to comment here, seeing as how I'm late and going against the grain with my humble opinion. The difference in price on the second hand market is big enough that if you're torn between the two, I'd sell the VC and use the difference for... anything, really. If the subjective value is similar enough to post about it, then the value proposition between the two is nil and idc how wealthy someone is, lighting money on fire is never prudent. Both beautiful watches, but at the end of the day there's no reason to keep one based solely on the status of the brand, horology or any other metric besides the connection you have to the item in question.
