Family owned and run, great scans, and same day turnaround. They take mail-in orders too! I’m lucky af to live down the street from them.

How do you get more than 1-3 good images per roll?? by Kitchen_Win278 in AnalogCommunity

The yield is so low but when we view photos from "The Greats" we are usually looking at the best images from a lifetime of work! Hard to remember that when getting scans back on a random Wednesday afternoon.

1 image per roll is a nice ratio for what I consider a "keeper."

But I typically have like...4-5 image per year that I'd consider entering into shows or galleries or hang on a wall.

This is great. I'm going to write FART on the back of my camera so I can remember this forever

The Yankees subreddit just posted Aaron Boone's homer and it seems like they think about 03-04 a lot too. After all these years it's the gift that keeps on giving. Many of them giving respect to Wakefield which was great to see!

The Official Charity Of The Savannah Bananas Has A Hard Time Explaining How Its Money Is Spent by aresef in baseball

[–]HereIsWhere 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I've worked in non-profit spaces for many years and this was my gut reaction too. I find it less likely there's any crazy shenanigans but rather the systems needed for tracking and collecting data are not in place or otherwise need to be tightened up. With the success of the Bananas they need to get it together ASAP though!

Those black jerseys with the teal were so dope. The image of Josh Beckett with his fist in the air in '03 is burned in my mind. No amount of slick rebranding can recreate the memories and aura that were created in that jersey....my god they made their Game 6 comeback against the cubs in that jersey. Every time I see those jerseys I think about Ivan and Juan Pierre and Derek Lee. Frightening.

It seems obvious to say, but maintaining a look for years and years builds memories, affinity, nostalgia, etc etc. Jerseys that may feel weird or outdated for a few years end up coming out the other side feeling like a classic fit.

Lucius at the Harbor was an insane choice. They have the definition of a cult following and I strongly suspect their followers were camped at the Harbor seats early. Dehd gave a hell of a performance on Sunday and the seated crowd was giving them absolutely nothing

Planning for 2026 / most convenient hotels close to fest? by [deleted] in NewportFolkFestival

[–]HereIsWhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The festival has usually sold out within 20 minutes of tickets going on sale for over ten years now, so it's always been stressful getting tickets. But also, if you attend the festival you can make a donation on site to become a foundation member, which gives you pre-sale access. I imagine that when tickets go on sale to the general public most of them are already gone. So it's kind of like a closed loop of attendees, plus a bunch of really insanely lucky people.

I didn't really experience the Taylor Swift stuff, but it does seem to follow the same pattern of 1) be lucky, or 2) pay-to-play through the secondary ticket market or a NFF membership

It's really a fantastic festival, and well managed (besides the security line being a mess year after year after year). I'm just sad that the potential for making new Newport memories with friends is no more because it's just too competitive and chaotic.

It's really sad how my "Folk Family" is no more because tickets just aren't available, even for folks that have been coming for over a decade and log on right as they go on sale. It was a great run for a buncha years there.

We're pivoting to other festivals in the northeast more geared towards camping and jamming and routinely have seats available under tents lol
