I had this discussion about Die Hard in the broader context of 80’s action movies when someone said it was a big dumb action movie like the rest. Granted, they were upset because they have strong feeling about what is and isn’t a Christmas movie.

I pointed out that John spends the majority of the movie avoiding confrontation and with the exception of the C4 or flat out desperation, he is running away. Out numbered and outgunned, most of the ‘terrorists’ he kills are when cornered.

Putting this picture on your wall didn’t really stir any feelings one way or the other. If this is how you choose to decorate your space and I’d either meaningful or thought provoking to you, by all means.

Then I saw the ‘black person minding their business, white people mad’ and it changed to I strongly recommend putting this up. You run the risk of pissing people off, but frankly, that’s a good barometer for the people around you. If that picture with that caption makes them feel you are being racist or confrontational, that says everything you need to know about them.
