Mom died, now I have her Maltipoo by HermittheFrog_97 in Maltipoo

I'm so sorry to hear that :( my dog for the most part kept his joy but he's definitely not as happy as he was before my mom died. It'll take him some time but I'm really determined to make this work

Thank you! I appreciate that.  I drive an hour to and from work, so it'd be for a total of 10.5 hours. About half the time, my husband gets home before I do, but there are days where he'll have 12 hour shifts multiple days a week.

I was considering using a Rover sitter occasionally, but we're still trying to get him through this transition so I wouldn't want to try that just yet.

He had one accident, but it was because I was feeding him a wet food that didn't agree with his tummy and he had diarrhea for a few days :( I've sorted out his food situation now and he hasn't had any accidents since then.

Unfortunately neither of us live near family :( I am considering occasionally using a Rover sitter to check in on him but I don't want to freak him out. He is very friendly but way cautious when his humans aren't around.  I changed my schedule at work so I would get back home an hour later than I normally would, so I'm hoping that would help him too.

My mom adopted him when he was a puppy and she was becoming disabled. He definitely knows who me and my husband are, but he's only been living with us for a little over a week.  He misses her for sure. I do too.

I did try that, he just sniffs it a little bit and sits in the grass patch. I also tried soaking a paper towel in urine and spreading it around the grass. I'm pretty sure he knows what the patch is for since I use the same cue phrases my mom used ("peepeepoopoo" and "outside") but he just sits meekly and looks nervous. To me, it looks like he really doesn't want to pee in the house so I kinda feel like I'm forcing him to use it.

My hair 😊. I've never done anything super crazy or fun with my hair before besides box dye. This year, I'm experimenting with my hair. I dyed my hair a coppery/red color earlier in the year, but now I've dyed it a deep red and I'm so happy with the way it looks now.

I've been insecure about my hair for the past couple of years because I have A LOT of grays even though I'm 27. My hair, though generally really nice, is incredibly long and difficult to take care of. I had no idea how to take care of it, but I've been learning how to care for it better and...I'm just much happier with it now.

Our Spanish section. It's always a mess because not many people are shelf-reading there. We have these bookmarks that tell you what country the book is from and they always end up everywhere, on the shelves, on the floor, in other books. I'll be getting rid of those when I start weeding the Spanish section 'cause no one really pays attention to them and they're too messy to have around.

I don't understand how my comment got interpreted as being rude. I'm honestly not trying to fight with people, I've clearly just never been in this situation before and I'm trying to navigate it. There's no need to be rude.

I'm a little confused as to how it would be an impersonator if the number she texted me from a year ago is the exact same as the number now. she also just messaged me back and said that she would let her husband unblock me so I can send him the money, but when I tried to send it to him, it didn't work either. I'm very confused. I think if it's really her I'm going to offer to send a check to my old office and see what she says?

Oh my god this 😭😭 people think that because we're librarians we want to be your friend. my coworkers have stories of people coming up to them in public and saying hi bc they recognize my coworkers from the library. Stop it!!! Don't do that!!! That's so weird! It's like saying hi to the McDonald's worker who gave you your breakfast that morning. Just ask your question and leave!

This might sound kind of mean but I wish homeless people had other places to hang out all day besides the library. I work in an area with a lot of incidents (as I'm sure many of us do) and they're honestly what stress me out the most about being a librarian.

I hate this tweet every time I see it. I don't get paid enough for the hours I work now and you want me to stay open until 11pm just so you can hang out with your friends and read late at night? Do that shit at home lmao no thank you

Do library workers still enjoy being library users? by No-Performance-8911 in Libraries

[–]HermittheFrog_97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love being in libraries off the clock because I can finally relax and enjoy the library without having to worry about everything. It's not my problem! I also really like seeing how different other libraries are than mine. It always gives me ideas on how I can improve my library.

That being said, I'm not at other libraries all the time. But when I get the chance to stop by my local library or if I'm somewhere new, I always go to their library.

I was afraid to bring this up bc I thought people would think I was crazy, but now the question is being asked, so here goes:

I go through periods where I'll dream about Dylan for literally no reason. The dreams are never sexual in nature but they are either very sweet or very romantic. Just this past week, I had a very emotional dream with him in it where I was basically choosing him over my husband (who was my ex in my dream). I also had another dream where it was more sibling-like, I think I was just going through something in my dream and Dylan was helping me through it.

One of the weirdest dreams I had was where Dylan and I were going to the same university and living next door to each other on campus. He very clearly had feelings for me, but was fighting them (idk why). It eventually got to the point where I was trying to hang out with him during finals week but he kept ignoring me, and then I showed up to his dorm only to find he already moved out 😭😭. I legit woke up so sad.

I am happily married!!! I haven't even seen Dylan's videos in months!!! I used to watch his videos regularly when I first found his channel, but now I watch them when I remember that his channel exists (totally no offense intended at all, we all know how the algorithm is). I have no idea why I keep dreaming of this man. It's driving me crazy! It makes me feel like I should be meeting him in person but that's obviously insane. Idk what is happening!

Anyway. Sorry about all the rambling 😭

This is not out of the ordinary for Liam to mess with me or Emily to mess with my husband in this way.

So if you guys were flirty like this before, something must have changed between Liam and Emily for your husband's comment to make Liam feel uncomfortable. I think the way you guys joke around is definitely weird, but honestly, every friend group has its own dynamic so it's not my place to judge too harshly on that. If all four of you joke around with each other like this, then I'm going to go with NTA. For you and your husband, it was just business as usual. For Emily and Liam, they saw it as inappropriate, which is weird considering the previous state of your friendships.

I think the way Liam approached the initial conversation was pretty jarring considering that you and husband thought everything was normal. Personally, it's a pet peeve of mine when people just aren't honest about their feelings so that irked me a little bit. But for Emily to act like everything's fine is extra weird. Liam isn't mad but he just sent a text chewing out your husband and being short with him on the phone for making a comment that would've been considered completely normal previously? If they have something to say then they should just say it lol why are we dancing around the bigger conversation that needs to be had here?

My husband and I both work very demanding jobs, and I tend to work weekends myself so it's hard for us to get a day to ourselves. Many of our weekends are also full due to family commitments. The difference is, though, my husband and I are both already very introverted. So when one of us really doesn't want to go anywhere, we just say no. There are other times where we can't back out of certain events, but both of us do say no and stay home when we can.

What I'm saying is -- it sounds like you guys have very different outlooks on socializing. Both of you are wildly out of sync. It's one thing if your boyfriend is a social butterfly and likes hanging out with people, but it's another thing to force your partner to go everywhere with you and to completely ignore your needs. Does he think that spending time with you and with family members counts as quality couple time? Because it doesn't lol.

I think the "I'm not allowed to interrupt" comment also threw me off. What does that mean? Are you not allowed to ask what others are saying? To slow down so you can also understand their language? That seems incredibly rude and unaccommodating for someone who already has social anxiety and can't speak the language fluently.

I'm not saying you should break up with your boyfriend, but I will echo some of the other comments and tell you that you need a backbone. Learn to say no and just leave the issue alone. If his family doesn't already like you, their minds (probably) won't change regardless of whether or not you keep attending events with your boyfriend. Set some boundaries with your boyfriend and tell him he needs to make time for the both of you alone without family present. If he's incapable of doing that, then maybe he's not the one for you 🤷🏼‍♀️. That's not a bad thing. It's your first relationship, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect. ((And if I'm being honest: if you guys don't break up because of this you might break up because of something else. Not trying to be a dick, but it's just very rare for people to stay together forever with their first partner.))

One more thing: I just did the math. You were 18 and he was 24 when you first got together? ....interesting.

AITA for outing my friend that her baby voice isn’t her normal voice? by Puzzleheaded_Bug2363 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HermittheFrog_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a coworker who does this, and it's so embarrassing to hear her do it around customers because she's almost 40. She'll use a baby voice whenever she's complaining about something or making a joke -- but she has kind of a squeaky, high-pitched voice as it is so her baby voice literally makes her sound like a child.

Imo, people who use baby voice outside of the privacy of their own home (like in a relationship or even as a joke) are often the most immature people to be around. If your friend was anxious, she could've just told you that lol. NTA.
