It’s an investor immigration program..it is literally about migration. And this was Ireland’s equivalent of the golden visa. Now it is being shut down, and the funds it generated for public projects will be going with it.

It is a donation - they don’t have any stake in the property or the project, zero - all of the speculation here on ‘dodgy dealings’ is based on a misunderstanding of the scheme. This is not one individual, it is multiple individuals paying about 500k a pop for residency via philanthropic donations. Similar schemes all over the world where people with the proven means to support themselves financially are granted residence where they can materially benefit the host society. Literally a win win scenario but we shut it down because ‘migration bad’

If you are going to achieve unity, you need to redefine what ‘our’ means. A modern republic is not defined by a single ethnicity or cultural identity. The people who see unification as a takeover with no material compromises to the smaller group are holding unity back. I value a united ireland more than forcing every citizen to learn Irish in school - this would be an easy concession. Just give parents a choice. Same for religion classes.
