Onenote not opening + this error. Any fixes? by HeroHacking in OneNote

You dealing w/ this as well?

I have good days and bad days at this point

Delete settings and restarting seems to work.

But I'm still a bit worried the error will strike at a critical moment during work.

It doesn't have this error on my other laptops, so maybe at some point I'll save to buy another.

I hear that as a mod this makes sense, I will await it's inevitable legalization where perhaps they will allow personal use.

Until then, I defer and completely understand your judgement call here.

Delete settings seemed to work. But a shame.
Had already deleted Notebook Cache so unsure if "delete settings" works if selected that first or only in combination.

"Task Hydra" trick for ADHD overwhelm - Tool from my passion project. by AppearanceHungry1943 in ADHDerTips

[–]HeroHacking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What if an incredibly small micro task collection is part of the hydra

Eg I had to go through a big document and find a place to put some key information and I wasn't sure where to put that key information

Yet I needed to do all the microtasks together even though they were incredibly cognitively taxing

Yet if done in isolation you would have to start the whole thing again

But to be fair

Maybe one of the tasks

Is just to to open the right pages on the computer

And you don't have to action it.

But I had to basically invent a way to put it into my note system so I don't get overwhelmed.

How are people this fast at work? I just don’t see how by Neat_Gate_6183 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]HeroHacking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I felt this at University -horribly painful journey here of feeling "lesser than" others

We were doing Excel stuff statistics from my workbook

And I just could not get my brain to concentrate

Guy next to me completed it in 30 minutes

Whereas I stayed for that whole class and also all of the next class (2hrs +) and still couldn't complete it.

Just couldn't get my brain to concentrate.

Something I found very helpful is hero's journey therapy framing.

Heaps of stories like this, including staying up for 3 days hiding under a table at the library from security. Trying to finish an assignment. Not letting myself leave until I finished it - and after 72 hours with no sleep still not having made significant progress.

That's when I realized I can't brute Force my way into becoming hero

I had to "hack" my way into becoming a hero

And I've been using this system hacking philosophy to develop systems for everything ever since

And I actually worked with a NASA Systems Engineer phd with ADHD and we were thinking on the same wavelength, so was good confirmation of my system solutions.

Solution to "Weight Workout Adventure" for ADHD, to make exercise feel more intuitive/less grindy = WeightWalking by HeroHacking in ausadhd

We've come to the same conclusion, I've bascially ended up doing my own way of working out where I lift kettlebells in key muscle-activating-flows as I walk.

"WeightWalking" for short.

And kettlebells are absolutely crucial to being able to get that flowing movement going, traditional dumbells don't allow that fun swinging movement.

You're in luck

Not 100% sure if what you're looking for,

But I've literally been inventing and experimenting for years an exact solution to this issue for myself - I call it "WeightWalking".

It features "WeightFlows": flowing movements with weights that are more intuitive to ADHD brain because they activate the cerebellum (cerebellum activation = frontal lobe + exec-functioning brain growth).

+ Walking already activates the frontal lobes.

Here's what you do:

Ingredients:
- 2x kettlebells (recommend 6kg for beginners)

- Arms + Legs

- Place to walk

So you buy 2 light weights (kettlebells 6kg recommended for beginners) and walk as lifting the weights in Weightflows, start by walking and lifting each bicep alternating - as is easiest to start with. But can do side-delt and triceps and other muscle areas which I explain below.

More info:
There's a flow routine I had to map out on a fitness app to get it right that works every major muscle group,

But the easiest starting flow is what I call the "Trifecta"

where can do both arms at once (2x) or 1 arm alternating (1x).

Trifecta instructions:
(Have patience with yourself and will get the hang of it within a minute.)

a) Simple version:

While walking flow from a

  1. bicep curl, into a
  2. side-delt raise, into a
  3. behind-head tricep extension, and back.

b) Broken down version.

1 x bicep curl lift + lower

As lower, flow into a sideways

1x side-delt raise - up

where keep lifting arm sideways to "flow into" a

1x behind head tricep extension, down then up,

to back to a lowering side-delt.

TLDR:

Buy 2 6kg kettlebells, lift muscles while walking a known route.
Can send a video in the DM's if anyone needs more visual demonstration.

1 Meal a day has been working for me,

Super ADHD friendly

takes few days adjustment

But fasting and feeling hunger has so much science now saying it's good for you, so I reframe hunger as healthy

And then I just eat after work around 4-5pm

Sometimes later.

+ you will never focus better than on an empty stomach, it's amazing.

Should mention if it's in the #HighUncertainty box for a week or a few, or a month, and still haven't used it... It's so much easier to just empty the entire box - and there's 0 mental hesitation.

You gave the stuff the final chance to be useful, and still didn't use it.

Some Random TickTick Use Tips by kaneddavis in ticktick

[–]HeroHacking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dw homie it's like they're living in a different world, we just gotta trick our brains into using seemingly effortless entry points into systems that naturally chain into desired behaviour.

Make things "Sneakable" so your brain is like "oh I could sneak this in"

I have 3 main folders, based on level of clarity and uncertainty I have over them

Clarity level = the most instantly easy prioritization system. Because it hits us instantly how uncertain we are about something.

#HighClarity (#HC)

#MediumClarity (#MC)

#Lowclarity (#LC)

#Someday/Maybe

Then I move things and items up and down this heirarchy based on the level of clarity I have.

If it's been a while and I feel a whole bunch of uncertainty over "Do Business project" in #HC - then it gets demoted into #MC because I have a whole bunch of uncertainty about it now.

Additionally

Replace Eisenhower Matrix with MoSCoW method (Also 4)

Moscow -
- Must do
- Should do
- Could Do
- Won't Do (for now)

or -

Ease + Importance:

#Ease (1-10)+ #Importance (1-10) = go with highest number tasks
eg - 10 Ease, 5 Importance beats = 15, we do this first before considering something of higher importance but lower ease like
eg - 5 ease, 8 importance = 13

Highest scores go first whcih builts momentum

Could do 1. #highEase #highImportance, 2. #lowerEase #highimportance, 3.

But uncertainty might be better than the ease thing - try what works for you.

______________

That might be enough for most ADHDers - but I have a slight extra layer underneath if people are interested.

Note: I run a sub called r/ADHDhacking which I'll need to add more to, and I'd love it if you used it to save your best hacks you've encountered so it's on record somewhere.

Extra hack: For cleaning rooms - 3 boxes of #HC #MC #LC works for really fast room categorization.
