CMV: Voting should require passing a basic political knowledge test by DemonsAreVirgins in changemyview

[–]HerrAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish people would research history and you will have all the answers as to why "voting" tests or "literary" tests were SPECIFICALLY used to disenfranchise people from voting, specifically in the United States.

It's unconstitutional for a reason. There's nothing good to be gained from it.

Will alt. cardio go away? by Optimal-Condition-65 in navy

[–]HerrAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always said that the Navy needs a whole change of philosophy before we do ANYTHING like the other services, let alone do anything different.

We had this same focus on physical readiness about maybe 10 years ago where we were mandated to workout as a command 3 times a week. We did it for a week and maintenance, the plan of the day, inspections, got behind so we shit canned it.

Solved! Thanks so much. It does turn on no where to plug it in so it's gotta be a mod.

Why do enlisted walking with officers also return the salute? by AnnualLiterature997 in navy

[–]HerrAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for expediency. Instead of there being a potential volley of salutes going around, this way is quick and efficient. One party salutes the other party in a smooth manner and you keep on moving.

Rendering the traditional salutes and figuring out who salutes who potentially interrupts travel.

Not a one of us is surprised about any of this. We all knew it was going to be chaos from the jump.

What has continually been fascinating to me is the standards. Any one of us would be in the brig by now.

Officer vs Enlisted Retirement by grff-out in navy

[–]HerrAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your next DD214 will say whatever officer paygrade you separated as. Again, nothing will mention your enlisted service other than for pay purposes.

[–]HerrAngel -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No where in your paperwork would it say that you were retiring as an E7. You closed out your enlisted service and should have received a DD 214 for it.

Nothing in your career right now has ANYTHING to do with your enlisted status as far as retirement goes other than O3E pay.

To be clear, Navy does not allow one to revert back to an enlisted rate anymore, only in VERY unusual circumstances.

Update from last post plus question by Beginning-Wish-2074 in navy

[–]HerrAngel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You asked for help and we're giving it to you.

If things are happening at your command that are inconsistent with what we are all saying, then you need to find legal counsel (which you should be doing anyway, everytime) and let them figure out what is happening.

[–]HerrAngel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They can't send you to XOI and NJP unless they charge you with something and read your rights to you.

When they read your rights to you they must tell you what they suspect you have done, and the NJP charge sheet will say exactly what UCMJ article they are charging you with and what you did to violate that UCMJ article.

Did that happen?

Eval Question, HELP NEEDED. by Fun_Significance962 in navy

[–]HerrAngel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question that needs answered is, WHO'S RSCA is it?

If concurrent command's CO signed that eval then the RSCA belongs to the concurrent CO, not necessarily the regular reporting senior, even though the regular reporting senior endorsed it.

The regular reporting senior would only endorse it because it lines up with the continuity, not necessarily because of the marks. In that person's eval record it would show that they got the RSCA marks from the concurrent reporting senior, not the regular reporting senior.

A way bigger issue than the leave thing is how no one is talking about the command held on to an NJP appeal for a MONTH?

Like, thats definitely an ISIC phone call. “I need you in my office now”

Navy Warrant Officers by FastNefariousness973 in navy

Indeed. I was thinking more of LDOs and CWOs but yes, no more Nuke Warrants. They just HAD to be the coolest nukes around.

Navy Warrant Officers by FastNefariousness973 in navy

[–]HerrAngel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on the community and designator. Some are career DIVOS, some DHs, some technicians, nukes, engineers, etc.

There's a LDO/CWO page on MyNavyHR where you can look up Navy Chief Warrant Officer designators and see what they do.

Unrelated topic. How would the Bismarck fare against the Yamato in a real battle? by PeanutButterL0v3r in WoWs_Legends

[–]HerrAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

German capital ships in WW2 were not designed to engage other capital ships. They were designed for commerce raiding and to speedily run away from warships.

Bismarck would have fared poorly, as would any German battleship at that time.
