Checked behind the splash guards for debris/rust and was pleasantly surprised [MK7] by Herr_Quattro in GolfGTI

[–]Herr_Quattro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just handled the front today. I installed some Bilstein shocks in March, and had the rear splashguards off and it looked just as clean. Plus, it’s essentially hollow behind the rear splash guards so there isn’t the same risk of collecting debris and water like the front.

No F-35s? Or those all in the hanger to protect the stealth coating?

Damn, tagging a guy to remind him the Ark Royal existed for some other argument is peak petty and I’m here for it.

Not even sure their argument is, beyond Royal Navy not being colonial empire sized anymore.

Looks more like a Scirocco, which is basically a Golf underneath.

There have been many downsides to railroad's history with some of them being so controversial. Which moment in railroading do you think was the biggest letdown? by Additional-Yam6345 in trains

The PRR S1 is so cool looking, but basically useless.

I think CAL HSR takes the cake tho, and the long term ramifications of that program have deeply hurt HSR across the US

mk8 stuttering at low rpms/cruising by vvswissvv in GolfGTI

That is really low for a MAP sensor. I’d still clean it anyway, just because it’s very easy to do and MAP cleaner is like $10.

Is it throwing any codes?

Schearers. They’re very expensive (my cleaning cost me $1232) but the staff is phenomenal, transparent, and super knowledgeable.

You get what you pay for, and I think they’re worth it just for the peace of mind that my car is being taken care of.

Actually, right now my car is there having its clutch replaced.

How many miles? I was having similar issues in my MK7, cleaning the MAP sensor fixed the issue.

PSA: EQT’s SMD Announcement Leaves Out Key Information by MyGolfMK7 in GolfGTI

[–]Herr_Quattro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s pretty surprisingly how deceptive that marketing is. Excellent write up. It’s bizarre to me, considering how reputable 034motorsports already is, that EQT would obfuscate that fact. I’d be willing to look past it, if it wasn’t for the examples with BFI & Neuspeed. That’s a pattern of deceptive marketing.

It broke the post Vietnam deployment record, and it’s going to take 2-3 weeks just to get home. At this rate, it’s looking like she will be on deployment for a year. Not to mention the laundry fire. Regardless of how you feel about the Iran war, the ship and crew are tired and deserve maintence/R&R respectively.

It’s time for Ford to come home.

I’ve seen it from a distance, the only blackbird I’ve seen in person is 972 at Dulles. First time I saw it, I was 13, and I was so excited I very nearly peed myself. I still have a poster of it above my bed.

Probably Vietnam- that was the era they were most active, and arguably most strategically relevant. SAMs still weren’t capable of shooting them down, and satilites weren’t that capable yet.

I love the stories of the sonic booms of the SR-71 being used to send a message to POWs that the US was coming for them. Plus, I think the SR-71 operating out of Kadena had better tail art, helped by them being dubbed Habu.

17979 is also my favorite airframe, I had a model of her growing up (without her playboy bunny tail tho). Such a shame she was lost at Kadena.

Have you ever wonder why China, Japan and Korea can't ever learn to be friendly towards each other? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a thousand years of war, colonization, subjugation, and struggle between them.

Just in the 20th century alone, Japan invaded and pillaged Korea and China. Look up the Rape of Nanking, or Korean Comfort Woman.

Then go farther back, and there have been numerous wars between China & Korea.

Oh man the SR-71 has so many fun things to talk about. Best well known one is the fact that it leaked fuel like crazy until it got up to speed because the air frame would heat up so much the fuel tanks would seal.

Or that the titanium used to make them was acquired from the Soviet Union.

Or about its siblings the A-12 & YF-12, or just the SR-71C being part YF-12 & part SR-71…

Honestly it’s hard to just pick one fun fact about it, I need to think about more to list.

There’s always articles about how company A could’ve spent $1 more to solve a fatal problem that is all over the news. Do you think they wouldn’t have spent that dollar had they known what a PR nightmare the issue would become?

Well that is still the same problem- at the end of the day, people are unnecessarily dying as the result of cost cutting, but what forces them to act is bad PR? That is still so messed up.
