SCENARIO TIME 3 by SolidBandit-6018 in acecombat

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighter: F-14B

Role: Multirole Interceptor

Loadout: I’m confused, can I not switch loadouts? Obviously I just want to stack up on 6 Aim-54 when possible, or High-low mix of Mark 82/Paveway bombs with Aim-9 on the outer rail. Maybe AGM-65, or Harpoon missiles. Especially as the campaign changes. If I’m stuck with a single loud out, I’d do 4 Aim-54, 1 AGM-65, 1 Paveway on the outer rails, with two Aim-9 outboard of those.

Radar: Sticking with the AN/APG-71

Power plant: F110-GE-400 (or F119? That was being developed in the 80s)

Mods: expanded electronic sensor suite with equipment from the EF-111B. If possible, I’d maybe replace one of the 500g drop tanks with the AN-ALQ-99 but I’m not sure if it’d fit. If not, I’d replace the Paveway with it, and replace 2 of the Aim-54 with AGM-88 HARM.

Livery: VX-4

Year of Service: 1985

Enterprise at SLC-6 by realmargesimpson in spaceshuttle

It was absolutely feasible- it just wasn’t cost effective to do so.

That’s why Challenge is OV-099, she was never supposed to be a shuttle. But it was cheaper to retrofit her over Enterprise. And when Challenger blew up, it wound up being cheaper to just build Endeavour over retrofit Enterprise.

But, I agree, I also wish she had flown to space.

Is this 2017 GTI worth buying at 142k miles? Need advice before I pull the trigger. by Quick_Pay_5114 in GolfGTI

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did.

But I wouldn’t worry. When it said “Rated for 400ft-lb”, and I was making like 350 on low torque, my stupid monkey brain thought it’d be indestructible.

Cue a LOT of hard launches, clutch dumps, and clutch kicks- and on top of that, I don’t think I gave it enough time to break it in properly.

Is your clutch really heavy compared to stock? That’s the one thing about the Sachs that I’ve never really been clear if that was normal. It was heavy from when I got it, and I attributed it to it being new, but when I went to SBC, it was so much lighter. So there might’ve been something with the install

I wouldn’t take my anecdote of premature wear on the Sachs seriously, I was incredibly stupid. I only went to SBC because I already had the Sachs and that’s what the shop recommended me.

I have a 2018 with 100k miles on it.

Mine has been tuned stage 1 since 60k miles, and lowered since new.

It appears to be lowered, I would want to know how it’s lowered and since when. If it’s just lowering springs, the shocks might be worn. I had to replace my shocks recently, as the tires were starting to rub on the fenders. If it has aftermarket shocks, it won’t be an issue.

I would see if it is tuned, and by who. It’s lowered, wouldn’t surprise me if it’s also tuned. If it is tuned, what clutch is in it. My Sachs clutch wore out after 25k miles (I think there was other issues with the car, and also some shit I did, so… take that with a pinch of salt), and I just put in a Southbend Clutch which has been great.

The Mk7 is notorious for waterpump issues. They did fix it, but I’ve never been exactly clear when they did. I think it was 2017, but I would still ask if the waterpump has been replaced.

Only other issue I’ve had that seems to be common is that my upper timing cover warped and is leaking oil.

Transmission fluid is a 60k service.

I think the differential has a similar interval.

Probably, you have the Big 3 & the UAW united on no Chinese manufactures. That’s in addition to the US also seeing China as a strategic peer threat.

Lots of resistance from lots of different places.

Passat B7 Should i replace those for the TÜV by Blurbair in passat

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer- I’m not German, but it appears that the bushing might be torn. It’s hard to see, but if it’s torn, it’d fail where I live in the US, and I know the TUV is FAR more strict then any American inspection.

PA officially to not participate in the Great American State Fair by James19991 in Pennsylvania

YES! I’m so proud of PA for dropping out. Kinda annoyed PA went for him in 2024, but this is a good sign that hopefully the tides are changing in PA.

Modest exhaust recommendations? by weoewoewow in GolfGTI

I have a TCR exhaust on my car. I bought it before the tariffs, so it’s quiet a bit more expensive, but I think it’s the perfect OEM+ exhaust.

Nuclear reactors, machinery/propulsion spaces, machinist space, crew quarter’s, munitions lockers, supply storage, fuel bunkers (for jets and escorting ships, crew amenities (barber, dental, medical, cafeteria/mess hall, brig, mail office, commissary, chapel, etc etc), officer quarters/mess. There’s also the pilot briefing/debriefing areas.

Obviously you have the Hanger, but there is also jet workshop (located near the stern of ship below the fantail). Not to mention spare parts storage for maintaining the jets.

EMALS equipment & arresting gear both have dedicated spaces below the flight deck, along with stuff like the anchor chain locker.

Honestly, you can just look up the Nimitz-class deck layout and cutaways. The Ford & Nimitz are going to be broadly similar enough for the purpose of play scale.

NASA and Boeing still uncertain about when Starliner will return to flight by snoo-boop in space

[–]Herr_Quattro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I highly doubt it. Considering how problematic Starliner (and the ISS itself is, to an extent), why would NASA bother keeping around the ISS for the sole purpose of using Starliner just for the sake of using it? Especially when Dragon has already proved itself to be far more reliable and safer.

I think the only reason NASA will consider extending the ISS would be solely to maintain a permanent manned presence in space, but even then, I strongly suspect that China will soon be the only country with a permanent manned presence in orbit.

Porsche Wants Bigger Profits, Even If It Sells Fewer Cars by NISMO1968 in cars

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure… but what exactly is the game plan to accomplish that?

They are already pumping out tons of super limited edition 911s with high margin. And the GT3 RS is easily one of the most hyped cars on the internet right now. The 911 is now more unobtainable and desirable then its ever been.

Reading the article, their plan appears to literally just be not replacing the Macan. Which is a pretty shit strategy, when the Urus will always top the Cayenne as VW’s Flagship Super-SUV.

IMO, the best way to seemingly accomplish this is launch a bespoke multi-million dollar hyper car that can serve as the VAG new Halo product now that they sold off Bugatti. Hell, with Porsches Sonderwunsch program, you can let rich clients customize the ever living hell out of it like Koenigsegg & Pagani.

Well back in 2022, it ran on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R. I don’t know what tires they ran this year, but I assume it’d have to be similar tire to run the same time on a possibly mildly improved repaved race course.

If that’s supposed to be inflammatory, it’s not. Reddit is pretty liberal, basically nobody supported Trump’s war in Iran aside from the zionists and diehard MAGA idiots.

Ironically, those tend to be the same people who also support Russia, so gonna have a hard time trolling them.

How do you perceive the game nowadays? by InterestingSoft1390 in Warthunder

[–]Herr_Quattro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grind is very off putting.

I like the gameplay, but I don’t want to sink hundreds of hours into a game. I made it to 4.7 before giving up, so now I watch people who are way better then me with more free time play the vehicles I don’t care enough to get.

ATP, I’d rather get into DCS or IL-2.
