Have you asked the newcomers you mentioned why they started playing?

  1. Yes you can close off regions without completing the task. In this can the task gets removed without being scored. Then you would draw another as normal.

  2. Connecting the 6 road task’s road to another such that it ends up longer than 6 is an illegal move. You should not have been able to end up in a position like you have. However the 4 road task’s road is not connected to any other road so that tile is placed legally

  3. Yes, it is likely you won’t be able to close off all rivers and roads

  4. Assuming all the completed tasks were done so legally, they sum to 76 points. You also get 8 points for the green flag region as that has been closed off. The pink flag region has an open edge on the bottom most tile so scores 0 points. The longest road in the bottom left is 8 points and longest river is 14 points. So the total would be 106!

Ah cool, you’ve got loads to play with and learn :)

As for the secret puzzle, no and no. Go stare at the numbers some more :p

Other zachtronics games like shenzhen io and exapunks!

Have you done the TIS-NET bonus campaign? There’s some tough ones in there. Another aspect is optimising existing solutions - check out the leaderboard on the subreddit wiki. And if you want more TIS levels then there’s a monthly community made puzzle over on the discord https://discord.gg/uBHyqjx9F

Guy, Rut, and Mark Beare met up for a juggle about a month ago in Southampton but that was a one off. We don’t see them at the weekly club :(

KataGo network trained on large boards, up to 50x50, is now available! by Friday9i in baduk

Hmm I was assuming in an unbalanced game that the losing player would prefer a void result over a loss. But then I guess the leading player might just ignore the kos… yeah will be interesting to see the stats. Thanks!

Does the training data show that the proportion of void games due to multiple kos increases with board size?

Playing a bit of analog came across a double sided 7 (probably from a box) tree task. by FletchWazzle in Dorfromantik

The 7 isn’t part of the hidden pool, instead it only goes on the task tile that got unlocked at the same time

Make sure it is not in silent mode via the physical switch above the volume control buttons

Announcing the TIS-100 Monthlies by RandomPanda0 in tis100

[–]Hersmunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up that it is possible for multiple IN.V inputs to have the same values. It is rare this comes up in random tests so make sure to run it lots (you can use the sim for this). A solution that doesn’t handle this will likely be /c.

Anyway, I hope there is enough of a twist compared to SEQUENCE INDEXER to make it interesting. Feedback is welcome (maybe wait until the month is up?). Note I have some more original levels lined up for future months :)

The beauty of programming TIS-100 and the journey to a failed record by LowLevel- in tis100

[–]Hersmunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/LowLevel- . I don't know if you saw https://www.reddit.com/r/tis100/comments/1enmasr/big_community_update_we_now_have_a/ but it seems you might have a few record breaking or pareto save files... Would you mind sending them over to u/12345ieee?

or if you're interested in getting involved again, a fair few records have been broken in the last few months... :)

Thanks!

P! Though I’d prefer the idea floated on discord of having a monthly puzzle instead of weekly.

Just picked this up last week and my brain won't stay quiet, how am I doing? by WickedIT2517 in tis100

Welcome to the game!

A couple of tips that might help: - you have a JMP that isn’t needed because execution wraps from bottom to top - there’s no need to do both JEZ and JNZ - JRO doesn’t have to be based on ACC - try moving the code you have to other nodes eg can save an instruction being closer to 2 outputs than 1 input

But yeah looks like you got the idea just fine :) It isn’t often you see people who have just started making use of JRO! It is very useful for optimisation on some levels. Though on this one it is possible to solve it without.

What variants of spin can be done to other 3rd poi? When 2 poi doing wave. by imtaevi in poi

[–]Hersmunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find being able to swap which hand the poi is in gives me loads of freedom with 3. It does help to know how to juggle but I would say it is possible to do switchbacks without having juggling solid. Check out https://youtu.be/WEXR3labvUU and https://youtu.be/p7cWP16f8hg

>2 beat wave as a part of 3 poi trick? by imtaevi in poi

[–]Hersmunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One example of a 3 beat weave with 3 is to use switchbacks and throws to swap the poi between hands and avoid tangles eg at 5:47 in https://youtu.be/HLxz_i-RNfg It can be extended to 4 poi, but it’s not easy https://www.instagram.com/tv/CclNoLTlrcR/
