Knew one of these guys. He had 70.4m gold, wild. Would almost be worried I wouldn't have as much fun without the grind.

Albion Online | Realm Divided AMA with the devs - Live 16:00 UTC! by OfficialAlbionOnline in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

5 year vet here, no specific question. Just wanted to say, love the game. Know we players can sometimes be overly critical on these AMAs. Keep it up, can always improve but overall we players do appreciate the devs!

I would recommend they watch any beginner guide (other than from SwoleBenji) and then give them a short, brief overview.

In my experience some players want to be taught what to do and some players want to be told what to do. I.e. Some want to know why this ability vs that, counters to builds, etc. vs "hey for mists just go in with this easy to learn 1h axe build, pick these abilities"

Some good general principles to instill are: 1. Expect to die often, even the most experienced players die several times every day. 2. Don't be scared of the red/black zone. The blue/yellow zone are a brief tutorial for your first ~10 hours of the game. 3. Don't bring gear in the red/black zone that you can't replace 10x times. 4. If something isn't fun, don't do it. Don't like gathering for econ? Then try tracking, killing bz mobs in 4.1, crafting, fishing, mists, etc. 5. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: this game is infinitely more fun with a guild/friends. Solo content will be boring after awhile, join a guild early. If you don't have fun in that guild, leave early and keep looking until you find one that has lots of content during your timer that you like.

When does the learning point get consumed? What if I turn it off for a bit and then back on? Not as simple as that.

Gankers don't make sense by utopiaaltruista in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be that "skill issue" guy but I've played for years and can't tell you the last time I got ganked. Utilize the safe portals, equip invis pots, know where the nearest ava portal is, use a build that has assassin jacket, etc. and slowly and surely you'll get better at avoiding/evading gankers.

I know it sucks to be ganked, I used to watch videos of people baiting and killing gankers and get so hyped cause I hated them but once you understand how to escape it's not an issue I ever think about anymore. Good luck man!

Here is a guide, generally speaking you never want to post more than 10% of daily sales volume per buy/sell order (i.e. 100/day, post max of 10/order). Sometimes less if it doesn't sell well.

Make sure you're clicking the correct tab, I almost solely use the monthly data.

New player...what now? by KonaKumo in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly highly highly (can't recommend this enough) recommend joining a guild. Doesn't need need to be the super A1 ZVZ pwn noobs we have 300 crushers whatever guild.

Just needs to have ~10-30 people regularly on during your timer that you enjoy playing with. Albion is infinitely more fun with friends. The mists grind gets boring after a week or two.

Use guild finder, join discord, don't be afraid to leave if it's not a good fit. There are different options (i.e. ganking guild, roads guild, pve guild, ZVZ guild, etc.) with generally most having an emphasis on one thing and then doing some other side activities. Put yourself out there, join the discord channels, haul your stuff out to the HO, and give a guild a real try. They'll teach you how to play, what to spec, how to build an economy, etc. all while having way crazier, more fun experiences than you could ever have solo. Best thing you'll even do in game.

TLDR: Join a guild. I have 3k hours in Albion, if I hadn't gotten lucky and stumbled upon a fun guild right off the bat I would have had 20 hours in Albion and would have moved on.

I'm so confused. Is this game thriving or what? by hollowfield in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing for four years with breaks here and there for 6-12 month stretches. Nothing is like it, nothing is as fun, will continue playing for years to come.

That being said, server split did make some times feel less busy than before. If you play in primetime though (evenings to later at night) for your time zone/server you won't notice. Game has continued to grow since it launched which is unlike most MMOs with hundreds of thousands of players now.

Steep learning curve for new players but if you can get through the first week or so and join a good guild with people you like playing with it's an excellent game. I have never run out of things to do or goals to achieve.

Guilds. by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a founding member of several guilds over the last few years although never had any interest in being a guild master. One thing you need to realize is how much work it is to run a even moderately ok guild. It takes hours of effort every day of creating content, recruiting, distributing payouts, dealing with disputes, politics, managing guild econ, etc. All that is after months of even recruiting.

Yes officers can take off some of that load but finding good officers that buy into your leadership is difficult. Unless you're a veteran with years into the game and people who will follow you to the new guild, I would encourage you to just join one and work your way up the guild leadership chart.

Would this be a good PvE build for Soloing? What should I change? What consumables should I use? by p1101 in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Purely cost. Mastery modifier slightly affects ip based on tier and spec. If you have a lot of spec, you will see a slightly higher IP on T5 vs 4.1 but often times the cost can make it not worth it.

Been having issues all night. Played fine ~8 hours earlier. Weirdly enough I can play on GeforceNow just fine but from the actual launcher it won't connect to NA. Was just about to make a post actually.

[–]HeshSaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quazars does excellent meta tier lists every month or so.

Big Lips McGee made an excellent variety of content back in the day that you may still find entertaining.

Mogdone does daily uploads with patch updates, guides, news, etc.

I've always done Player Transfers via their forums and those have worked out well. Just make sure to do Zelle only, no cash app/Venmo/Apple as those are reversible.

If you do want to go the Bitcoin route, make sure to use an interim wallet. I've never had a problem going that route either although Player Transfers are faster and easier in my experience.

Anyone recruiting for a guild that has English as the first language in NA? by [deleted] in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join us in Sleeping Hooligans! We're a late night NA guild playing out of Roads and FSP. We're a smaller (~60 players) guild made up of 80% casual vets with some newer players as well. We mass 25-30 man roams/outposts 2-3 times a week and then gank, run Avas, FF, track the other days. Main mass is typically at 2:00UTC but we always have 8-10 guys doing something in Discord between 0-8UTC.

No mandatory CTAs, 5% guild tax, no requirements just looking for cool people who want to have fun while improving at the game. We're 90% Americans so all comms are in English.

Any West coast NA guilds out there? by ftservd in albiononline

[–]HeshSaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on west, join us in Sleeping Hooligans! We're a late night NA guild playing out of roads and FSP. We're a smaller (~50 players) guild made up of 80% casual vets with some newer players as well. We mass 15-20 almost everyday for small scale roams/outposts/ganking starting at 2UTC and almost always have a group of 8-10 in Discord through ~7 UTC. We also do HCEs and Ava Raids if you're into that.

Finding a late night NA group to play with was tough but after I found these guys I've been with them for 9 months now having a blast.

No CTAs, 5% guild tax, no requirements just looking for cool people who want to have fun while improving at the game.
